Although, I definitely don't want to see Paul Pierce having to come off the bench like that.

1) I don't get why you posted this, no offense, I mean its on the front page on Celticsblog.com for a reason.

2) Pierce shouldn't complain about coming off the bench, because he knows that hes no longer the same player. The thought of playing for his home town team should warrant enough. Plus Melo/Pierce can both give each other plenty of minutes.

3) I just don't see that happening for various reasons.

4) Asik is definitely not going to be here if we get Melo. The point of Rockets clearing cap space is so they can go after Melo. We would somehow have to get Asik first then trade for Love, and then Melo. I just don't see DM giving us Asik if they feel that's exactly what Ainge is doing, and with how much mainstream media is in and out, who knows how much of a sly move Ainge can do?

1) There are many people that come straight to the forums instead of reading the articles on the front page. Also, I am not the first person to post a CelticsBlog article (a front page article) in the forums.

2) I am not talking about Pierce complaining. I would feel pretty bad comparing 2008 Finals MVP to the one that comes off the bench behind Carmelo (after hitting numerous clutch shots in his face).

3) It's an idea, just like a ton of those get posted every day on this forum.

4) And how do you know that Asik will not try to force his way out, pressuring Houston to trade him?

I mean no offense, so please don't feel offended, I just wanted to know what you thought.

As for Pierce, I don't think he should mind being off the bench. There will be plenty of minutes for him to shine, and come through in the clutch.

I really don't like the idea of capitalizing our entire future for Melo/Love. The best bet is that Melo demands a sign and trade to BOS, but I don't see that happening to be honest. Phil Jackson wouldn't want to give their nemesis or rival team a contending piece.

And as for Asik, he's been demanding that this entire time, ever since Howard arrival in HOU. Doesn't mean anything though, DM has all the power whether or not to trade him. Asik can complain all he wants, but he isn't going to get traded unless Morey believes that's the best solution.

Things about all these moves that I disagree with: 1) The Wolves want no part of Jeff Green's albatross of a contract. They want young players who work cheap, draft choices, nonguaranteed contracts where they can just cut the guys, and expiring contracts. 2) Don't make a deal with the Knicks if Anthony wants to leave. Just offer teams that are under the cap and not legitimate contenders one future 1st round pick if they will take Green and two number ones if they will take Wallace. In exchange, we just want 2nd round picks in this year's and next year's draft to help us fill out are roster and just go sign Anthony. 3) Forget Asik and just sign Emeka Okafor for short money.

All I've seen is the wolves want veteran players capable of helping the team reach the playoffs.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that the Wolves 2015 1st round pick goes to the Suns if the Wolves are not in the top twelve of next years draft lottery. It would serve them well to bring in young players with our draft choices and their own (6,13,17) plus Sullinger and salary cap relief. They will lose a lot of games next year while developing these kids but at the end of the year they will probably have another great pick (their own) and only 30 to 40 million dollars in contracts (guesstimate based on how the Love-Celtics deal is constructed and what happens with team and player option contracts). This is the proper way to rebuild this franchise and not with aging veterans.

At this point in time the only motivation the Wolves have in letting their "wishes" known is to drive up bids for Love.

well i mean, it's possible, but very unlikely.  Also having read the article... I don't get why using the stretch provision on Wallace was at all necessary or relevant.  It doesn't seem to have any impact on the trade he comes up with (Humph + Bass + picks for Melo)... seems to me you could that trade with or without using a stretch provision on Wallace.

I think the point of the stretch provision is to be able to add more players after you trade for Melo.

Nice and detailed, but there is a problem. He has us trading the following in the Love deal:

Quote
Jeff Green, Jared Sullinger, Keith Bogans
2014 Celtics 1st (#6), 2014 Nets 1st (#17)
2015 Clippers 1st, 2016 Nets 1st

and then this in the Melo trade:

Quote
Brandon Bass, Kris Humphries, Joel Anthony
2015 Celtics 1st, 2015 76ers 1st (or two 2nds)

We would be trading all our picks in 2014 and 2015, which we can't due to the Stepien rule.

I think he wanted us to stay under the apron, which is projected to be 81 million. But if we're this close over the luxury tax, dont like us to use the MLE, id prefer to shed some money and stay under it next year and avoid being repeater offenders in 15-16.

Otherwise I like to get Asik, Melo, Love but I doubt we get more than Love (if that even).

Because the Knicks are over the luxury tax threshold, they cannot receive signed and traded players. Humphries cannot be used to acquire Carmelo, unless the Knicks dramatically reduce their payroll.

Well they don't need to take Humphries then, just take Green,Bass, fillers, picks for Melo.
