Here is my proposal again

Draft day (post pick though we pick for them) trade with Minnesota
Kevin Love, Corey Brewer for 2014 lottery pick, Bogans, Green, Sullinger, 2016 Nets

Draft day (post pick though we pick for them) trade with New Orleans
Eric Gordon for Gerald Wallace and #17

Free agency trade with New York
Carmelo Anthony (sign/trade) for 2015 Celtics, 2017 Celtics, 2018 Nets, Bradley (sign/trade), Bass, and salary filler as necessary (Anthony, Faverani, Johnson, Babb, Pressey, etc.)

Free agency trade with Houston
Asik for 2015 Clippers (absorb salary into trade exception)

Re-sign Humphries, Bayless

Sign Pierce to the M.L.E. (for 1 season)

So 2014-15 Cetlic's roster post-moves is

PG - Rondo, Bayless
SG - Gordon, Brewer
SF - Anthony, Pierce
PF - Love, Olynyk
C - Asik, Humphries

I hope this is you, Rick Moranis, from "Honey I shrunk the Kids" as we desperately need your help in shrinking some of the team's contracts into any Love deal.

If we could get Wallace off our hands in some sort of deal for Love then I would be up for it. We simply need him off our books this summer as he ties up too much cap space to go unnoticed.
Oh that team I have up there has a massive payroll, but I think it is a roster Boston would be ok with as that team is a true legit contende,r if not the favorite, and I always got the impression this ownership group would be willing to pay for a real title threat.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I love the idea of Love coming to Boston. Melo I just don't like the fit. A big three of Rondo, Melo and Love just seems like an attempt to place the 3 most talent players possible together with no reguards to fitting as a team.

Melo has shown in NY to be best suited to playing a small ball 4 in a dirk type role. The knicks have tried at times to embrace this but it hasn't worked out. I think he and love create redundancy on offense that will ultimately work by just over running logic with talent. The other side of the ball is where the problems will lie. While both are A++ super stars on offense they are mediocre defenders (melo possibly below average). If the Cs lead by Rondo, Melo, and Love where in these eastern conference finals against Indy or Miami how would they fair vs West and George or Lebron and (insert PF)? If they made the finals how do they match up with OKC's Durant and Ibaka or Spurs Leonard and Duncan? In terms of defense I actually prefer the much cheaper J Green to Melo.

I would rather see the Cs build a deep TEAM then 3 Stars and a group of vet min fill ins.
I agree with this.

Although I LOVE Melo, and as much I would like to see him as a Celtic and I have even posted my ideas for bringing him in...

I would love much more to bring in a guy like Marc Gasol and have two awesome big guys. We would have fantastic low post presence offensively, mid-range shooting and three-point shooting from those two positions. And Marc is a fantastic defender.

Of course, this is also a stretch, but I think it's much more realistic than Melo. There's not much reason for Memphis to trade him, unless they maybe plan to blow the team up and start from scratch. Also, he's a FA next summer.

Also, from the paycheck standpoint. Let's say we give Love 19 mil, Gasol has 15, and Rondo also 15, or maybe something in between those two, that also gives us a little bit more flexibility to work with for future signings.
Tommy Heinsohn:"Worst nightmare in the NBA is Rondo with a jump shot." B-)

Celtic Pride!

Wallace's deal is the elephant in the room. Would a rebuilding team be willing to take him over Green with the logic being they plan to be in the lottery anyway? Can we get rid of him without throwing in another first round pick?

Sounds like nonsense to me. Most "insiders" at RealGM are frauds.

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.  Say we give up Sully, filler, the two picks this year and one pick next year for Love.  Ainge could still put two first rounders in 2016, one in 2017 and two again in 2018 for Melo.  He probably won't (and shouldn't) offer that much but Boston can still blow away anyone else in a trade offer for Melo, unless someone offers up a top three pick this year for him.

Mike

But how do you match Melo's salary? Gerald Wallace's contract? Jeff Green? Neither of those pieces are very attractive. Ainge would probably have to add even more picks to get the Knicks to bite.

can we sign humpheries for like 10 mil + for one year and then include him in the trade( like Brooklyn did with Bogans last year )?

Humpheries is not going to get 10 mil on the open market, so maybe he does it for a big pay day .....

I love Rondo and him want him to stay Celtic.

Love would be a great player to join Rondo....both are deadly serious about their work on court.

I hope Marc Gasol who is unselfish center , good head on his shoulders...will decide to join these two guys .  That would be a nice core with KO backing them up.

Hayward or Thompson would be my next targets.  Two good young wings.

Finally a team can Stevens can coach .

Go Danny Go

so all we have left for assets after this is our 2016 and 2018 picks as well as the Philly first which will most likely transition to second rounder?

would like to hang on to some other assets because I have little faith in Gordon's health, PP's longevity, Brewer's scoring and the overall defense from the 2-4 positions.  I also hate the idea of giving up those unprotected Nets picks.  they're going to stink very shortly and those picks could turn into some great players.  would like something
back from Minny and NY where they have to cough up a provisional first or second rounder if the Nets pick is top 5 or something like that (if that's permitted).

would also bring back Iverson to be the banger backup center and allow for some roster flexibility by giving some time to Hump at PF.  I think KO will be better next year but I don't want to put all my eggs in that basket.  would be good to have someone who can eat minutes behind Love if KO doesn't progress without having to save him to be a PF masquerading as a center.

FWF, you deserve so much more than this single TP. And not because you didn't post the Phil Collins version.

What bs. If this were true some major fines will be given

Melo and love would help but we would be a horrible defensive team. Will bring pain into my eyes

Yea, sure, just like some major fines were given for Lebron, Wade, and Bosh discussing to team up in Miami and then actually doing it. That really worked out very badly for them. Oh, and also, Wade and Bosh are defensive juggernauts as well, aren't they? And so is the Heats starting centers over the last few years. I'm sure the heat fans also feel that it hurts their eyes to watch their team.
Wade can be lazy on defense in transition, but he was and still can be when he's feeling right a beast defensively. Best shot blocking SG EVER by a wide margin and he's undersized to boot.

Wade lost the athleticism to be that type of a defender years ago.
He's still a good defender and the 10-11 and 11-12 he was as dominant as ever defensively.

No and no.  Renting cap space comes at a cost.  See: Golden State dumping $24+ million in dead weight salary on Utah, but needing to forfeit their 2014 and 2017 1st rounders.  No GM is going to do another GM a favor without getting anything in return, unless they want to be fired.

As a kid did you ever try to convince your parents to do Christmas early, or maybe give Hanukah a try? That's what this is like. We all know it's coming. Why are we putting this off?

If you're Love what else do you have to do or say to convince Flip you're done? Get a billboard? Hire a Moses impersonator to be like "Let my Kevin go!"

Cmooonn. Do this already.

i'm believing this is BS. but didn't phil Jackson recently say he wanted Melo to opt in on his contract before the draft?

i'm just doing a lot of speculating and if that were true it could mean something as far as their decision to trade melo.
