Can't see Melo coming to Boston no matter what the cap space and other scenarios are .. . .

Wrong side of 30, huge cost ... just can't envision it happening at all.
We have been discussing the idea here for months. It's pretty unlikely, but not unthinkable.

It's not that unlikely especially if we can get Love.  The chips just has to fall
It's less unlikely if we land Love...  but that probably will not happen either.

2 tommy points says we land Kevin Love.  And why is it less unlikely to get Melo if we land Love?

Btw... the most relevant thing about this thread is that we can watch the retardation of the media in action.

Phase 1:  Some random fans on a message board (LarryBirdsFingr and FrankLucas) share their Kevin Love fantasies:  http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1324734   (see my cut-and-paste quotes on the previous page to save time)

Phase 2:  Some hacky blog called "rappler.com" reports the fan quotes as a "source" saying Kevin Love is a "done deal":  http://www.rappler.com/sports/by-sport/basketball/59460-holding-court-celtics-pacers-opposite-directions

Phase 3:  This Celticsblog thread

Phase 4:  Gary Tanguay now reports on the rappler article:  http://www.csnne.com/boston-celtics/melo-love-rondo-lets-hope-its-true

Let's see where this stupidity goes from here.

You never know tho.

No one ever saw ray and kg coming to join pierce.

Everyone laughed at SAS when he called Lebron James and bosh to Miami to team up with Wade. And that to me is still crazier then potentially melo and love to play with rondo would be. Lol and it happened.

Gary Tanguay is the worst reporter in Boston. I even prefer Felger over him...At least Felger's moronic contrarianism makes sense.

Just how we lost out on the top 3 on lotto night, there are going to be alot of disappointed people in this forum when we don't get Love.

Ainge is not going to overpay. When have we ever seen him overpay?  He pretty much robbed the Wolves with KG and also Brooklyn with KG and PP.

There are going to be teams that will beat our offer. I would be surprised if the best Minny can get for Love is the 6th and Sullinger.

Rofl at Tanguay reporting it but hold up a minute. I was watching that video in the link and it was news to me Carmelo can opt out already and as soon as free agency starts be available? I did not know that I thought he had a year to fullfill.

This thread and the thousand or so like only make me believe even more that we ARE NOT getting Love... so many other threads in the past go the same way... "Celtics are close to a deal to acquire..." and it never happens. Everyone should know by now, if the thread title doesn't have some form of "trade is official" it just doesn't happen. Everyone was saying goodbye to Lee and Bass and welcoming Asik (post game lol), nothing happened at all. Then Lee was traded alone to a team not on radar.

These threads are entertaining though.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Maybe you are confusing Melo with Love.

Kevin Love is under contract next year (2014-15).  He has a player option for the 2015-16 season.

Melo, Bron, Wade and Bosh could all become unrestricted free agents this summer if they want to.

I follow your logic with Lucas but fail to see how you prove the other guy to be a hack. He seems to be the only legitimate insider in that thread. Of course he doesn't say anything we don't already know, but he also doesn't say anything crazy like the Cs are getting Melo (which, as insane as it is to report something like that at this point in the offseason, could feasibly happen if the Cs land Love).
