I just saw this on the main page and was shocked that it was proposed by a non-Celtics media source (and one who doesn't like Rondo, no less).  Does anyone think this is actually feasible?  If it is I couldn't jump on this deal fast enough.

no, Rondo is worth at least a top 5 pick in my honest opinion, maybe I am overrating him, but I think we can get more value than Lawson + 11

Agreed.

I really don't want to trade Rondo at all, but this is about as good as you would get and it's nothing to sneeze at. Maybe Ainge could get a small sweetner added by I'm not sure.

Lawson just came off a 17.6 points, 8.8 assists, and 1.6 steals season and is only 26. Locked up for a long time and one of the fastest guards in the league.

Rondo is the last block between going for a home-run trade to contend, and an all-out young player/high pick collapse-a-thon, if not an all out tankathon.  So I'd obviously rather keep him than trade him out, but that's not a bad deal if we have to go that way.

I'd rather overpay for another allstar in a swap than trade away Rondo, though.

Think about it, Rondo is going to be a free agent next year and is looking forward to being recruited like college. With his mercurial nature and love of fashion and celebrity and the limelight, we really have little reason to believe he would even want to stay in Boston.

Or that he'd be willing to change his game that was shaped by the glory days when he was surrounded by 3 hall of famers and could just pound the ball and collect the assists.

After igoudala burned them, I don't see Denver trading so much for another guy going into a contract year.

Yeah, who are we kidding. It's hard to see any team drafting top 20 wanting Rondo enough to trade just a pick alone for him.

If we trade Rondo, we get Lawson, # 11 and still have our 6th and 17 th picks.

To me that's too much to pass up.

It's a moot issue though because Rondo will NEVER re-sign with Toronto. I think that's been said somewhere at the trade deadline iirc.

I love Rondo, but you gotta do this trade if its available. Lawson is younger and has really emerged as a borderline all star. And most importantly he's locked in on a solid deal. I'd consider this trade straight up, the #11 is icing on the cake.
2025 CelticsStrong Historical Draft Orlando Magic:
PG: Chris Paul, Fred VanVleet
SG: Ray Allen, OG Anunoby, Zach Lavine
SF: Paul Pierce, Gordon Hayward
PF: Chris Bosh, Serge Ibaka, David West
C: Tim Duncan, Andrew Bogut

Boston can offer him the most money, and signing a long-term deal puts his brand squarely on the Celtics. Rondo would be synonymous with one of the most historic franchises in professional sports. Money, ego, and celebrity: check.

As for fashion, short of waiting for the Paris NBA franchise in 2020, he can hop a jet to wherever it is these days where people wear fancy overpriced clothes.

I wouldn't be able to get behind this trade. Lawson puts up some decent numbers but he is not a championship caliber point guard. Him and whoever we pick at 11 just puts us in mediocrity for 4 to 5 years and then we'll have to just rebuild all over again. Don't like it.

One more player or if they take Wallace contract i'll call Danny Ainge. If no keep Rondo & trade for Melo.
