Gross.
I know right, why would the celtics trade for an allstar? I wish we could just fill our team with phil presseys and Gerald Wallaces.

So, we're still not better than OKC or Miami after a Love trade. The regular season may be more entertaining, but ultimately that's all it would be. ECF exit (or possibly even 2nd round) isn't really good enough in my book.
If you get All-Star players on your team, it makes it an attractive destination for more all-star players to come in the future, or even aging veteran all-stars chasing that elusive championship.
Id rather watch a team that wins in the mean time aswell, not some sucking tankfest. As much as i love watching the bruins it would be nice to watch a winning celtics aswell.
Unless those other all-stars are Paul George, Durant or LeBron, it doesn't matter. Still not a contender. Also, what cap space do we have to get these illusive all stars? Come on now.
If Paul George and Love switched places, does that put the Twolves in the playoffs and Indy out of them?
I can understand not wanting Love. I'm not a huge fan of picking him up unless it leads to getting someone even better, like Melo. This paralysis by analysis needs to stop, however. The idea that you shouldn't get a player as good as Love because doing so might somehow hinder your ability to make some theoretical move for some undetermined player at some unknown point in the future is silly, especially when it might be entirely up to said player as to whether he even wants to come to Boston.
With Wallace, Green, Bass, Joel Anthony and Sully, Boston has 32 million dollars to trade without even doing a sign and trade with somebody like Hump or Bogans. We've also got enough 1st round picks to get teams to swallow those contracts. Boston can't give two guys max money but Ainge can certainly make a pretty good offer if he can argue that Boston is going to be a real contender. And then we've got the trade exemption in addition to that.
Honestly, if Boston gets a top three pick tonight I'm not sure I wouldn't rather keep it and then trade Rondo to get another lottery pick this year rather than go after Love, Melo, etc. But if Boston could pair Rondo and Bradley with Asik, Love and Melo, with KO, Bayless and potentially Paul Pierce coming off the bench...it's gonna be hard to put together a more talented team than that no matter how many picks and how much cap room you've got.
