Tim, but over the last 2 seasons it's not just that Rondo hasn't led his team to a 500 record, but more importantly is that during that time the team has clearly played better without him.
Last year-
w/out Rondo 21-17
with Rondo 20-23
This year-
w/out Rondo 19-33
with Rondo 6-24
So over the last 2 seasons the team has a combined record of 40-50 without him, while being 26-47 with him.
That seems like to be missing a bit of contextual information.
Last year, with Rondo - no Bradley, Green clearly struggling to get his game going after missing a year and of course Bass, Jason Terry, Courtney Lee and Paul Pierce each, variously, going through really bad personal shooting slumps.
Last year, without Rondo - Bradley healthy, Green healthy, Pierce & KG both playing much better down the stretch. You might as well say we 'played better without Barbosa and without Sully'.
This year: TANK. Drawing conclusions about the meaning of W-L records in a season where 'winning' was clearly not even a secondary priority for the organization -- especially once we failed to get the Asik deal -- seems absurd.
Not to mention the overall massive amounts of turnover to our roster the last few seasons.
I find it a bit bizarre how easily people waive their hands over all the things that have gone on over the last few seasons in an obvious attempt to somehow blame it on one thing or the other.
