I'm with Gorman on this one. There is no chance Rondo seriously believes Noah is up near 3rd as an MVP candidate, he's just trying to get Noah to come here.
I imagine Rondo has had to "squash" a few beefs in the past year or two with guys he might be able to now play with (obviously Hump for one).
Let's be clear. The above quote by the OP from Gorman was taken a bit out of context. He clarified right after that that what he thinks all that Rondo is saying is that he wants a player "like Noah" on the Celtics.
Because there is probably no way that Noah is coming to the Celtics and Rondo is probably fully aware of that.
That sounds more like it. Noah isn't going anywhere soon. He is the most popular Bull in Chicago. The city loves him. And I think he belongs in the top 5 MVP discussion this season.
On the other hand, the Bulls management and owners are doing some cheapskate meddling. Noah and Thibs were not happy at all to see Deng go. Who knows what other polarizing moves they might be capable of. I hope things sour and Noah wants to test the free agent market in a couple years.
Yeah it's kinda hard to figure out what Chicago's long-term vision is or if they even have one.
I know alot of it centers around Rose and I've got to think that Chicago is going to have to make a decision sooner rather than later on whether to build around him or to build around Noah and just assume that Rose will never regain his health again.
The part that baffles me is why on earth they just dealt away Luol Deng for nothing.
If I had to guess, I would say Chicago is probably going to remain a competitor for the long haul. I don't see them dealing Noah and definitely could see them adding a big piece this summer like Melo or Bosh.
They also have pieces to deal like Butler, Gibson, Boozer's expiring deal, Snell, etc.
