I'm with Gorman on this one.  There is no chance Rondo seriously believes Noah is up near 3rd as an MVP candidate, he's just trying to get Noah to come here.

I imagine Rondo has had to "squash" a few beefs in the past year or two with guys he might be able to now play with (obviously Hump for one).

I don't know if I'd say he was third, but he's definitely up there on the list. Noah is putting up some very good numbers for the position that he plays and it's translating to wins as well.

Why not?  Chicago lost what most people thought were their two best players - at worst #1 and #3 - and Noah still has them chugging along to a likely top-4 seed.  His numbers are pretty sick for a center, especially in assists, and he's the unquestioned leader of the team now.  Dude shouldn't win but I think he deserves to be somewhere in the top 5.

Great stuff right there.

My bold crazy (semi unrealistic) prediction for the offseason.

Love and Noah are both playing in Celtics Green alongside Rondo come next season.

(Remember. You heard it here first.)

Could you imagine a front line of Noah and Love? Wow. And playing with Rondo? I'd trade the rest of the team and all of this year's picks to make that happen.

Me too. That's an instant contender. Whether Avery Bradley is at the two or someone else.

If you think of Most Valuable in a literal sense, it's got to be Noah. He's significantly more valuable to his respective team than Durant, LeBron, Love, or anyone else you could think to throw out.

If you think of Most Valuable as analogous to 'Best', you look elsewhere.

Let's be clear.  The above quote by the OP from Gorman was taken a bit out of context.  He clarified right after that that what he thinks all that Rondo is saying is that he wants a player "like Noah" on the Celtics.

Because there is probably no way that Noah is coming to the Celtics and Rondo is probably fully aware of that.

always respected Noah's desire to win which seems to have grown over the years.

would love to get him to the C's IF we can also land a prime-time scorer to go with him and Rondo.  His addition would make getting Kevin Love sensible since they should complement each other well

That sounds more like it. Noah isn't going anywhere soon. He is the most popular Bull in Chicago. The city loves him. And I think he belongs in the top 5 MVP discussion this season.

On the other hand, the Bulls management and owners are doing some cheapskate meddling. Noah and Thibs were not happy at all to see Deng go. Who knows what other polarizing moves they might be capable of. I hope things sour and Noah wants to test the free agent market in a couple years.  ;D

Yeah, and there are rumors related to all that around the fact that Ron Adams is now an assistant coach here instead of there.

Noah has long been at the very top of my list of guys I'd love to see play here.  I think Sully and our first rounder from this year could make sense for both teams.

I don't know it that's structurally possible considering salaries.  Maybe, if you included Hump in a sign and trade as an expiring contract, or something like that?

I'm not sure about the extent of "meddling" but Bulls are setting themselves up pretty nicely.  I can't imagine the organization is shedding many tears over the loss of Deng at the moment.  IMO, they got a great end of that deal and they're currently a team that could very well be a #3 seed when all is said & potentially looking at a 2nd round matchup with the Heat/Pacers.

Cap sets up pretty well for them in the off-season and they have assets.

The other night a friend of mine asked me what I thought about Noah while we were watching the game.  It got me thinking...I don't think there is another center in the league I would take ahead of him (unless you consider the brow a center).  The energy, hustle, rebounding, passing...he's got it all!

I'd trade anybody on our team (including Rondo or this years pick) to get Noah in green!  Chicago would be nuts to let him go...

I use to hate Noah with a passion back when he was a young player getting in KG's face.  I respect it now that he's a veteran.

Yeah it's kinda hard to figure out what Chicago's long-term vision is or if they even have one.

I know alot of it centers around Rose and I've got to think that Chicago is going to have to make a decision sooner rather than later on whether to build around him or to build around Noah and just assume that Rose will never regain his health again.

The part that baffles me is why on earth they just dealt away Luol Deng for nothing.

If I had to guess, I would say Chicago is probably going to remain a competitor for the long haul. I don't see them dealing Noah and definitely could see them adding a big piece this summer like Melo or Bosh.

They also have pieces to deal like Butler, Gibson, Boozer's expiring deal, Snell, etc.

Derrick Rose + Joakim Noah + cap flexibility to acquire third star = Championship

A lot of people debate on best player vs most valuable player on a team but it really isn't that complicated IMO.

I think there's a misconception about what MVP means. I believe the award should be given to the Most Valuable Player OF THE LEAGUE, not of one team. It's pretty straight forward.
