KO seems to need more fitness.  He looks like he still has baby fat and that there is room for improvement in that area.  He has tools but right now, the athleticism of the league is preventing him from deploying those tools in a consent manner.

Plus he needs a haircut.  I think if he looked a little meaner, it may help.

I like him and am hopeful there is upside but I also would not hesitate to trade him if his inclusion helps a good deal go down.

I'm pretty sure the question is whether or not KO is worth investing in.
Olynyk is under team control with a reasonable price tag for 4 more years. Not sure how or why this is a question.

Could be a question as early as this summer if we are considering a trade that would include him, and thus would need to come up with his net present value.  You could have made the same remark about Rondo his rookie season, yet Minnesota tried to pry him from Danny in the KG trade the following summer.

Yeah, but I feel that's not a question about "investing" in Olynyk, since you've got him at what you've got him for an extended amount of time.

It's more of an issue of what the return is, and there can't really be much of a discussion on this without a specific offer in mind.

Also, if Rondo was at any point the make-it-or-break-it piece of that trade, he'd be in Minnesota right now.

Plus he doesn't use his hair to his advantage in terms of drawing fouls like Dirk and Manu used to do.  Just take a little bump and snap the hair around and get to the line.

What I was trying to say is....considering where he was drafted and what we expected from him, do you think we have gotten out of Kelly Olynyk what we should be getting or do you feel he's slow to catch on???

I was hoping for more, but I can't say what we're getting is entirely unexpected. It's hard to pass judgement before he's even played a full season.

I think that to start on a contender, he needs to shoot over 40 3PFG%; that's T25 in the NBA. He also needs to become more athletic, so as to be able to servicably defend his position.

To be honest, I expected very little of him, give his position in the draft, and the weakness of his draft class. If he could improve his shooting for next year, I would be thrilled.

FWIW, he's 6th on the KIA rookie ladder and imo has a higher upside than some of the other pople above him.

definitely. Compare Cody Zeller , Alex Len stats vs KO's . None of them have multiple 17 plus point and several 20 point games

A few months ago I had nearly given up on Olynyk.  Now, I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.  He's underdeveloped in a way similar to Gerald Green.  Even though Green has always been able to jump out of the gym, he's only recently come to terms with his limited lateral mobility.  He either spots up OR he drives (only) when he comes off a pick clean.  He rarely drives after facing up an opponent. His first step just isn't good enough, but it took him years to understand that.  He hasn't learned any NEW talents per se, but he understands his limits now and the results speak for themselves. He's aware of how matchups should impact his decisions.  I think KO faces a similar trajectory.  Should be fun to watch.

I never thought I'd see Kelly Olynyk compared to Gerald Green.

YES
i think the main thing is when healthy and playing with confidence he gives us a good solid well rounded big who can come off the bench or occasionally start (when team is good)
i think the key to ko is that he is on rookie contract and his quality play came make bass and sully trade bait to garner a different player for celtics
sully in a package can get us someone good, love?

What do you mean? There has never been a player more like Gerald Green in the history of the Boston Celtics.
