Here's a guy I'm on the fence about. some nights he looks smooth and on other nights he looks like a train wreck.  unfortunately when he looks good we are usually in charge somewhat in the game but when we really need him to come off the bench and help out he seems to be getting in his own way and becomes a one man clumsy fouling machine with no coordination.
really want him to succeed but I don't know if he's done enough for the time he's been here or should he have improved more by now!!!

What exactly is the question here?

He was bad stat wise last night but made his mark on other ways to keep the game close. Good defensively especially but scola scored too many buckets at one pt on him. He rarely got touches upon top of the three pt line to also help out with passing

I'm pretty sure the question is whether or not KO is worth investing in.

I'd say yes as of now, since hes a rookie, and waiting it out to see his progress is worth it. At best he can always be traded to a team like the Jazz who were pretty high on him, for prospects or trade filler.

It's based on your perspective, quite simply

Olynyk is under team control with a reasonable price tag for 4 more years. Not sure how or why this is a question.

agreed.

the guy is a rookie taken in a weak draft.  the fact he looks halfway decent at all is a bonus.

I think a realistic upside is that he's our PF off the bench that can do a lot of everything.  Score, pass, rebound and with some effort, defend.

KO against another team's second unit could be pretty effective for us.

wait til he hits his 3rd year before throwing in the towel

Another out of touch post about rookies.

Rookies lack consistency more than anything.  He will become more consistent, they all do.

I thought we might have been past this guys, thanks for reminding me we aren't.  More KO sucks posts.

Hmmmm....yeah....

Pretty sure not all rookies pan out
(Jajuan Johnson, Adam Morrison, Kwame Brown, Darko Milicic, Fab Melo, Yi Jianlyan, I could go on and on and on.)

As for Olynyk, maybe it's too early to predict how his career pans out but I don't think it's too early to comment on how he's played so far.

Opinions are like good and bad days, everybody has them

Yep, and he at +5 and Chris Johnson at +1 had the only positive +/-'s on the team last night.

(A stat that matters more for KO because he makes so many contributions that don't show up in the box score otherwise.)

KO still fouls too much and is never gonna be a great athlete, but I don't know how anyone could call him uncoordinated by now.

Early in the year he had three major issues - aggressiveness/confidence, strength, and consistency.  He's gotten much better at being aggressive and playing confidently, and seems a bit stronger too, though he still needs to improve there.  Consistency is still an issue but his good games are getting both better and more frequent, and he's learning how to impact the game when his shot's not falling.  So far so good.

Pretty spot on assement, IMO.

My biggest problem with Olynyk so far is his feel for the game and the fact he's kinda skinny.

We'll see if both progress as time goes on.

Strenghts are he seems to be developing a pretty sweet jump shot.

If it doesn't show up in the box score, where does it show up?
