I don't think Rondo goes anywhere till the results of the draft lottery. If you put him with Wiggins or Jabari P and Sully and Avery you have a very very good team. Very attractive to free agents.  It would still have nice pieces to build with too.

How about Rondo/filler to the Cats for 2 unprotected firsts and Kemba/filler? Sounds just stupid enough for Jordan to do.

From Marc Spears' power rankings: Source said Sacramento offered Isaiah Thomas, Ben McLemore and two picks for Rajon Rondo. Rondo wasn’t interested in re-signing with Sacramento.

Wasn't that rumor posted and debunked a few weeks ago?  Doesn't mean it didn't happen, of course, but I feel like we've been down that road before.

Rondo will not sign an extension before summer of 2015 because that way he can get most years and most money. It has nothing to do with Boston, Sacramento or whatever team.. It's the CBA.

I actually think he might stay in Sacramento if traded there. Cousins and RR are both Kentucky guys and he is a good friend of Rudy ( http://www.celticsblog.com/2013/1/10/3863874/rajon-rondo-would-love-to-play-with-friend-rudy-gay )

I am just not sure Sacramento offered that much for Rondo, this might be Danny leaking stuff to build up his value.

I'd guess it has a lot to do with Sacramento. It's true Rondo's in no rush in signing an extension but I don't think he's said that he's not interested in re-signing with Boston.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
on sportscenter they just had tom penn, former memphis front office person.

He was saingy what if the c's trade rondo to the suns for dragic and 2 1st rd picks. Now that's a deal I would strongly consider depending on which picks we get.

Dragic has always been underrated.  Phoenix has three 1st round picks this year alone.   It's at least a deal you would have to consider.

I am definitely in the 'keep Rondo' camp, but I am also a HUGE fan of Dragic. The thing is, he and Rondo are the same age so Danny would have to do something pretty special with the picks since Rondo is clearly the superior player and captain of our team...plus there is the fact that they both play the same position.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Charlotte with their 2014 pick (top 10 protection) and their Pistons pick is where it would start with them.

As far as Danny is concerned, Sacramento is a much better trade partner.
Their 2014 first rounder is protected top 12 and they have Mclemore whilst owning their own future first rounders.

Long before Bill Simmons 'idea' I suggested that if a Rondo trade did come about, Danny would go hard at Sacramento's 2014 pick and 2017 pick and Ben Mclemore. Take back some crap from Sacto and bottom out this year.
I could see a draft night trade occcurring in this instance but even if done by the deadline this year, it's unlikely Sacto makes the playoffs or even breaks out of a top 10 pick.

Charlotte's pick is protected to chicago

I thought Charlotte's pick was protected for them? If its 12 or better they keep it?
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Chicago gets Charlotte's pick if it's not in the top 10.

Um, this is A. Sherrod Blakeley who cites Sam Smith. Sam Smith (article is from today morning, 10:30), by the way, cites no source whatsoever. To be precise, his wording is "Rondo's price is said to be...".

These have got to be the two most worthless "insiders" ever, and the chance that anything ever remotely similar came out of Ainge's mouth is slim to none.

As a matter of fact, I'll wager that those two picked up on the bogus Twitter report from yesterday without doing their homework.

just found one thing funny here... who does cite their source(s)? would it make you feel more comfortable if he said "according to a source" like everyone else?
Shockingly, some people do. Even citing an unnamed NBA source is more credible than shamelessly propagating baseless Twitter speculation. Which is what Sam Smith is doing.

Coincidentally, you'll never see respectable NBA reporters (think Wojo and the likes) do crap like this.
"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

but you see my point -- you're not actually citing anyone when you don't identify them. you're just saying you're citing someone while you could very well be making it up, or that person is not a 'source' of any credibility (ala Crhis Broussard).

Leaving aside Sam Smith, Zach Lowe is well tapped in, IMO.

I find it very convenient that after this story came out, a story leaked (to former C's beat writer Marc Spears) that Sacramento offered Thomas, MacLemore and 2 first round picks for Rondo (which would be an absolute haul, when you look at Thomas' productivity and MacLemore's talent).  And was later edited to being just 1 first round pick.

Of course it was edited, because Sacramento owes a protected pick to Chicago, which would make it difficult for them to trade 1 first round pick, let alone two.

I think there are some people out there trying to establish Rondo's value through the press, which means it is hard to buy either of these stories.

What it does tell me though, is that there is real smoke out there with Rondo.  He is being discussed, whether it is with the C's, or just teams who want to make an offer.

Yeah, it's extremely funny that as soon as this "two picks" rumor came out, rumors came out including Sacremento, Houston, Toronto, and New Orleans.
*CB Miami Heat*
Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

I'm not saying that a rumor citing an "NBA source" is completely foolproof. All I'm saying is that when you can't even do that, your rumor is almost certainly bogus. And when a supposed team insider resorts to such tactics, it's downright pathetic journalism.
