If Rumor is true

Would Danny then take Hardaway Jr. and a future unprotected 1st (2018)?

I would hope not.

Take one solid young prospect and get a future pick for a team you are making way better?  Sounds smart.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Charlotte with their 2014 pick (top 10 protection) and their Pistons pick is where it would start with them.

As far as Danny is concerned, Sacramento is a much better trade partner.
Their 2014 first rounder is protected top 12 and they have Mclemore whilst owning their own future first rounders.

Long before Bill Simmons 'idea' I suggested that if a Rondo trade did come about, Danny would go hard at Sacramento's 2014 pick and 2017 pick and Ben Mclemore. Take back some crap from Sacto and bottom out this year.
I could see a draft night trade occcurring in this instance but even if done by the deadline this year, it's unlikely Sacto makes the playoffs or even breaks out of a top 10 pick.

Charlotte's pick is protected to chicago

There is no way Danny is going to trade Rondo before the draft IMO,it makes no sense .

1) Rondo going to a new team is going to make that team better this year meaning their draft odds will likely go down .

2) Why would Danny trade for a draft pick when he doesn't even know where in the lottery it will fall. It would be really dumb to trade a relatively young all-star PG for a pick that falls below 6 or 7 , and we end up with someone like Hood, or Harris for Rondo .

3) What if the c's pick falls out of the top 5? If we still had Rondo, we could trade that pick to add talent around Rondo.
If Rondo is gone and both our picks ( our own and the one we trade Rondo for ) fall out of the top 5 , then what?  We miss out on the top talent in the draft , and now no longer have our all-star PG .

Makes zero sense to trade Rondo before we know what the draft order will be . There is no rush to trade Rondo before Thursday .

Because it makes our pick guaranteed top 5 this year. Also likely gives us a pick that's top 10-12 again this yearregardless of whether Rondo plays the last 25 games. ie Sacramento or Charlotte. Also, it's arguable that a 2014 pick in the 10-12 range would project as a 6-8 pick in other drafts. Obviously still a gamble but I can see the logic.

(Not that I agree with doing that but I could I can understand the thinking behind it).

on sportscenter they just had tom penn, former memphis front office person.

He was saying what if the c's trade rondo to the suns for dragic and 2 1st rd picks. Now that's a deal I would strongly consider depending on which picks we get.

Update the price tag:

2 1st and a border level all-star

Goodluck Danny. You won't get that. Even Rondo at his peak last year can't get you that

Teams want to see Rondo carry the team without the big three first

I think this is just danny telling everyone "we don't want to trade rondo, stop asking".

Dragic has always been underrated.  Phoenix has three 1st round picks this year alone.   It's at least a deal you would have to consider.

on one hand, I don't really care if someone's unemployed or whatever - if someone happens across inside info, that's good on them

on the other hand, it is best to take everything with a grain of salt - if this kind of deal goes down, I'll give the guy credit for having it first

I tend to listen to anything but believe nothing around this time of year - and I'll only really "report" the things run by the media outlets
