I don't get the opposition to Melo. One of the best scorers in the game, excellent rebounder at the 3 and is versatile enough to play multiple positions well.

I'd be happy to get Melo

Agreed. He gets so much hate, I really don't get it. He's gets called a loser, but his team has made it to the playoffs every year of his career. And the cancer talk? He's had a few bumps on and off the court, but he has actually matured. He's proven he can coexist with other high profile players (AI, Billups) and excel while doing so.Melo has been the only brightspot for the Knicks this season; JR started mailing it in once he got his contract, Felton can't dribble up the court without having an asthma attack, Stoudamire is a shadow of his former self, Chandler missed a chunk of time injured, and Bargnani is.... Bargnani. Melo could sit and sulk but he's been playing his butt off (in addition to his usual scoring, he's also averaging a career high in rebounds) and has publicly come to the defense of his coach many times.

People keeo saying he needs to be like LeBron or watch him more. LeBron is the best player in the world. Everyone needs to watch him if that's all it takes. And let's not forget, LeBron needed Dwyane to win it all.

The Knicks despite Melo have won a mere 16 games and lost 27.  If he was as great as some say don't you think they would be winning more?

And how many series has he won?   I think out of all those years only twice did he advance past round one.  Do you get that?

He is not even in Durant's league get real.   There are STARS and there are stars.   Melo is the latter.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Out of Lebron, Durant, and Melo, I think that Melo is the most versatile scorer. He's a combination of LBJ and KD - someone who can play physical, power basketball and smooth, shooter basketball. He's the best of both worlds.

I enjoy watching him a lot because of that.

I like Marcus Smart

I like how you pick only parts of my post to address.

How many times did Paul Pierce make it past the first round before KG and Ray got to Boston?

And as for NY's record this year, I addressed that in my initial post. That roster is awful with the exception of Tyson Chandler. We've seen him be successful when he has a legitimate coach and nba caliber teammates - the 08/09 Denver that went to the conference finals comes to mind - I'm just not sure what some people expect Melo to feasibly do that will overcome NY's issues.

If he was on the Celtics I'm not sure I could watch them until he was gone. My best friend is a Knicks fan and won't watch them as long as he's on the team. He's a one dimensional basketball black hole. Probably one of the most overrated players in the last 20 years.

Every one still think they wouldn't want him in green?

Let me say.. He also had 13 rebounds. And left the game with about a couple minutes left lol

And say he's a chucker but he made 23-35 which is 65.7%

I don't want him. It's only one game the whole year

He has been horrific otherwise. With his age and pudgy body, he is only going to get worse

 ???

He's averaging 27pts, 9rbs, and 3asts while shooting 45% from the field, 42% from 3, and 85% from the line.

If that's "horrific".....

are you willing to give up multiple 1st picks, starting with our 2014 1st pick?

Knicks will also want Sullinger.

Would you move Green and Bass for a shot at signing him outright?

That would be too much to give up. Now if its Sully, Nets' pick and a couple more, along with other players not named Rondo, YES.

I'm not sure, but I'd absolutely consider it. People are getting way too attached to these draft picks and the lure of 2014 draft. The East is weak and we're not exactly out of the playoff picture despite our crapiness so the pick may not be that valuable when it's all said and done.  And with Ainge at the helm, everyone should be prepared for the possibility that if a star player becomes available, those picks and guys like Sully and AB are very tradeable.

And I'm still not sure how Melo has been "horrific" this season...

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
He has always been one of the top scorers in any program he has been in.   but when he is off ,  he continues to shoot the ball and has a hard time making his teammates better IF he is having a bad night.    best for him to sit on the bench  and get out of the way , instead of chucking up a million shots ..

When he is on his game well, it can help his team, but they need touches and shots too, to get their game going , he is a huge ball hog.

One of the worst. Elite team players I've ever seen......he needs to watch LBJ. Work the ball

This is such flawed logic. You might as well tell Sully to watch more tapes of Dirk. Carmelo is Carmelo and Lebron is Lebron. Carmelo doesn't have Lebron's passing ability the same way Lebron doesn't have Melo's shooting touch. When teams stop expecting Melo to be play-maker and scorer that's when he'll find his greatest success(Denver for example). IMO, you team Melo with a play maker(Rondo) and a secondary scorer(?) and your halfway there.
If we don't move Green we'd have a secondary scorer.

Lol, you couldn't convince me Jeff Green is a viable 3rd option let alone 2nd.

I think Durant is more versatile honestly. Melo can't put it on the floor like him. Melo can bang down low more, but Durant's post game is improving.
