Kind of like a pitbull the way he bulldozes his way into the lane. And with his body type, narrow shoulders he should have no business what he has done this year. He is an excellent shooter but instead is scoring baskets driving into the lane with either hand more.

He is also underrated defensively but his main strength is scoring the ball. He is a tenacious/relentless player and has been a big part of dukes success this year. At this rate would you consider hood a decent consolation pick around 6-14 if we miss out on the top picks?

I think he should be picked in the 8-12 range. I like his game quite a bit. I am not sure if he will be as good as jeff green or Gordon Hayward. But he sure is effective in a complementary role at duke. I would expect him to be a good starter in the nba. He has a good all around game, but hasn't shown anything to indicate he has all star ability.

If I am boston i might slot him around number 11, behind Gordon, vonleh, saric, and lavine (if all those guys come out).

No this draft is overrated they're all going to be busts.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Exactly. New players are never as good as older players. We need to trade all of our draft picks for good players that we know are good. If we have a high draft pick that means we are bad so we should trade them to be good.

It's a law of nature.

I like him and Gary Harris in the 10-12 range.  Both have good size (assuming Hood is a SF) and can score

if that was the law of nature, the C's would have won the championship the past 4 years with their ancient roster instead of those younger teams like Miami   ::)

Actually, the Knicks would've won it last year.

Good thing you're up to date on your sarcasm, though.

Oh, come on.  You know that's not true.  There are ten future Hall of Famers in this draft and an additional four All Stars.

DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

+1 for the OP, triboy

Even though it's an old thread, I thought it deserved to be bumped.

I'm surprised that there is so little love here for Rodney Hood. Not that people are knocking him, but just that people seem to be overlooking him, mainly because of Jabari Parker overshadowing him.

Given all the draft threads in the past month or two (I had to dig back and do a topic search on Hood  and found only one and it was 3 months old ) with names like McDermott, Warren, Gordon and Anderson and Vonleh (with Vonleh and Anderson being my personal favorites of those mentioned in the 6-10 range)  there has been little mention of Hood.

Hood is a better free throw shooter than Parker (80% vs 74%) and a substantially better 3 point shooter (42% to 35%). He has a great jumper both in terms of form and elevation.

He is more than decent off the bounce and can create his own shot by either slashing to the rim (sometimes his slighter frame 215 vs Parkers 235 makes him a little less effective at drawing fouls than Parker) or pulling up with that jab step and fall away short range.

I know the two main knocks on him are his lack of strength, which shows up in not great rebounding numbers compared to Parker, and his age.

He has a polished offensive game, however, and could end up being the most effective pure scorer in this draft.

If we miss out on the top 4 and Vonleh, I take this kid. He could play the 2 or 3 effectively.

Rodney Hood is going in the mid to late teens.  No way he goes in the top 10.

Hood has had some love in other misc threads. I like him in the 10-12 range. He is a crafty scorer and shooter with good size. If he slips to 18, grab him and pump your fist!

If the Celtics are on the board at 7 or 8, i wouldn't mind trading down for Hood and picking up another pick or prospect.

If the Celtics don't luck into the top 3 in the lottery, anything can happen.
