I don't think showing his highlights against FAU is worth much.  I don't particularly like Hood.  He seems okay as a shooter, but does not move quickly with the ball.  I would not take him with a top 10 pick. Maybe with our 2nd pick.

Struggled in the last important game. Narrow shoulders, short wingspan, reach. He is going to be like a 6'8 courtney lee in the nba. He was better in the beginning but really struggled in the tail end of the season.   Better options should be available with our 2nd 1st first

Hood reminds me of Tayshaun Prince. Both lefties, high level defenders with good range. Hood could be a better scorer, but only time will tell.

I think Hood is a late lotto pick, but I could see a team reaching for him.

Dang seems like he been in college for 6 years lol..he should be better than these 18 year olds
Yeah, kinda feels like an older guy beating up on youngsters.

Not sure how well his game will translate to the next level. His lack of rebounding worries me + how well he'll fare defensively in the NBA against physically stronger players + role player offense. Looks like a bench player with a small chance at becoming a starter.

I'd like him as a late first to early second rounder but late lottery or even a mid first rounder seems too high to me.

Exactly. New players are never as good as older players. We need to trade all of our draft picks for good players that we know are good. If we have a high draft pick that means we are bad so we should trade them to be good.

It's a law of nature.

That highlight showed Hood lighting up an unranked team...  Well shouldn't that happen when you come from a basketball powerhouse like Duke?

I think Hood could be a solid and versatile player for us but I wouldn't consider him before the 2nd of our 1st rounders.  Hood doesn't flash enough explosion and athleticism to be taken early ie top 6-8.  But I wouldn't mind him at all at #17/18.  He could help diversify the attack.

I like Hood. If he can add some strength and rebound at the next level and play above average defense he would be a very nice piece. I don't know if he'll ever be a 20ppg guy, but I could see him giving you 15/5/3 with high efficiency (say 45/40/85), and being able to defend 2 positions.

At that point he could be a more efficient Jeff Green, which is maybe a top-50 player?

Hood seems to have a good chance of becoming a rotation player because he can really stroke it from deep and mid-range.  On the downside, he has short arms, a narrow frame that doesn't look like it'll be able to gain much bulk and rarely beats defenders cleanly off the dribble.  He actually reminds me of the Chris Johnson on the Celtics right now.  They have similar bodies, athleticism, shooting stroke, etc.  Hood has the advantage of a better handle and a likely first-round pedigree that's going to giving him more opportunities.

If he averages 15/5/3 with good efficiency, that still wouldn't put him in the top 50.  It's kind of shocking how many good players are left out of the top 50.

new scouting video

Likely will be a role player off the bench, unless he can improve his strength and defense.  Like the video mentions about his weakness, he doesn't get into a lower enough stance when defending. But i think he does, just that he is a pretty thin guy , can't get low enough plus cover alot of ground with a few steps (like Gordon).

Decent offensive player, especially one of the better shooters out of this class

Why couldn't he play Shooting Guard? Although he appears to be a poor defender, maybe the size would help against "corner 3" type guards. Guarding LeBron is a lot harder than guarding Monte Ellis, or Ben McLemore.

I mean, all of these college guys are going to be absolute dreck on defense unless they commit to it, so there could be hope.  While I am interested in others' thoughts as to why he couldn't play SG, I can say that I am much, much lower on him as a small forward... ...SF is the dominant position in the NBA right now, as the top three highest scoring players are SFs, and 5/10 of the top scorers are SFs.

This kid has a nice shot, and can play the pick and roll - but he just won't get into that class, IMHO.

Agreed.  I see him as a SG at the next level if he sticks.  He would get eaten up by the Lebrons, Melos, and Durant's of the NBA world.  The question there would be, does he have the foot speed and quickness to stay in front of NBA shooting guards.  I'm sure Danny will have a better idea after working him out.
