I bet Osby signs with the C's this week.

not sure. He is not doing all that great with the RMC.

Chris Wright is doing better.

PF- Sullinger
SF - Green
G - AB
PG- Rondo

Bench
C- Humprhies/Fav

I am hoping this deal is done before tip off.
Yeah then they can stop showcasing Bass and move on to showcasing Humph.
You don't need to showcase anyone for a half-year rental.

True.

But as far as showcasing goes, I do wonder if Rondo will hold off on returning until Crawford finds a new home.

i just joined this thread and news a few minutes ago. but if ainge can get asik for bass and lee and a #1 he is brilliant.

I would change that to, if he can get Asik for Bass and also get rid of Lee for the price of the Clipper's first round pick this year, then Ainge is brilliant.

Of course, Ainge signed Lee to that contract so...

But in any case, a very late first round pick for Asik and to get rid of the two worst contracts in our two most overloaded positions seems like a good deal.

I have come to appreciate Bass though.  He might be undersized but he played tough defense down low, played solid defense on Lebron and Melo allowing us to switch his pick and rolls and the guy has always been money on mid range jumpers and free throws along with being a true professional.  I think we will miss him more than a lot of people think and finishing out games with Asik on the free throw line will be torture.

If Danny trades a pick in this year's draft to get Asik, I'm going to lose a LOT of faith in him.

Yeah, but which other one do you trade if the Rockets refuse the Clipper pick?  Brooklyn could be a shambles in 2-4 years, and if our rebuild takes too long our picks could be valuable too.

Maybe offer Brooklyn's 2016 pick, lottery-protected, which rolls into our 2017 swap rights pick, also protected, and an unprotected Boston pick in 2018?

I'd much prefer giving up one of those future picks from Brooklyn, if not the Clippers pick.

We know there's a lot of talent in this draft.  Who knows what the case will be in the future?

Also I just have a hard time believing those BRK picks are going to end up being very good.

Not to mention, the time for the Celtics to add and development young talent through the draft is now.  Hopefully the team is more competitive a few years from now.

The 18th or so pick in the draft is likely to be a solid rotation player at best.

The 2016, 2017 (via swap), and 2018 Nets picks are potential home run picks.  They're the type of trades that Red liked to make.

To get Asik and still keep Green , Sully and KO. and AB  would be pretty darn lucky in my mind.

It's not a bad group.

But if Avery gets the money he wants this summer, then the Celtics would have a combined cap hit of roughly $25 million just for Bradley, Asik, and Green.  Sully will need to get paid season after next, too, and Rondo will probably want to get $14-15 annual on his next deal.  That's going to be a lot of money for a group that includes just one All-Star.

No man CelticsBlog convinced me Rondo's going to take less than 10 million a year because he loves the Celtics so much he's totally cool with leaving all that money on the table.

next move danny should make

Bos sends : Green,Bradley and a pick or 2
Nyk sends : disgruntled melo

Pg: Rondo
Sg: Crawford
Sf: Melo
Pf: Sully
 C: asik

That's a contending starting lineup IMO, but may have to get a stronger starting sg on the defensive end. AfflaloN

Funny to think that with how terrible the Leastern conference is this year... our two middling 2014 picks might be the least valuable of all our future picks.  Crazy considering most of us figured we'd end up with a good lotto pick out of this season.  Unless something dramatic happens, both of our draft picks will be in the 15-25 range.

The 2015 Clippers probably has a better chance of ending up in the lottery than either of our picks this year.  It's still unlikely, but one Chris Paul injury (combined with the depth of the West) probably puts that pick in the lotto.  It'd take a lot for us to miss playoffs this year.

I think Ainge should hold out and make sure it's not a '14 pick. It doesn't sound like there are a lot of other suitors and this draft is deep compared to your average year. How about next year's Clippers pick?

Disagree. There's a lot of talent at the top of the draft (Exum, Parker, Wiggins, Randle, etc) but I don't think it's significantly deeper than in previous years.

Even so, a pick this year would be more valuable than one next year from a short-term trade standpoint. I doubt it'd be difficult to trade a 20s pick in this year's draft for a protected one in next year's if they want to roll the pick over.

I do think there is value in the unprotected Clippers pick in event of a catastrophic injury, though. Maybe that means the Celtics' own 2015 pick is preferable, but then again isn't that one in line to be swappable with Brooklyn? [dang], it's hard to predict which of these picks will be best!

If the Celtics are determined to make a playoff run this year, maybe their own pick is tradeable. I can see them ending up ahead of the Hawks in record. Or they could just agree to send Houston the worst of whatever picks they have in 14, or 15, 16 etc..

Don't think Asik is the bonafide center of the future, but he provides in the short term

- A real center. Defensive presence, meaning Stevens has luxury to have to play tough man on man D, instead of having to double team and give up threes.  (got killed by Blazers, rockets and pacers that way)

- Gives freedom for Sullinger and Olynyk to play their natural positions and develop further

- Small Window #1 to have this team surprise the world. Asik + Rondo

- Worse case, we can still trade him by next years trade frsflinr.  (could be a big bang, if also rondo and green are traded )

please stop. Melo is never coming here. Did you not see what Jeff Green did to him the other game??

The guy is not as good as ppl say he is. Especially defensively he is a liability

This potential trade keeps bringing the Vitali Potapenko trade to mind.  Our gaping hole at center being filled by a Euro big man.

It still amazes me that Pitino gave up a lottery pick for an inferior player.  I don't think Danny will get burned in similar fashion.

I don't see why we need to include a pick. Lee and Bass is fair return for Asik.
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

Isn't that a bit like saying Jerome Moiso reminds you of trading for Roy Hibbert? Asik and Potapenko aren't in the same universe as players.
