Sherrod is reporting it as a done deal?

He said it was close. And said he expects more moves from the celtics.

Yeah then they can stop showcasing Bass and move on to showcasing Humph.

We need him.....a starting Center to make it worthwhile for the Celtics and Rondo to hang around. And resign.

Rondo stays with a decent center ,  maybe that's enough to find a. ......elite FA to sign on .

I think this is a very important  moment for the Celtics .....as there is only So much a chance we can land a decent 7 footer I the draft .....they are rare .       ....most turn out like Fab Melo or Hollins

This guy got attitude in the paint .......we need him....

He likely is.  Celtics package is the best Houston can get.

- Knicks have nothing to offer. No pick
- Blazers have little talent to give up. No way they give up Lopez for Asik
- Cavs have some decent young players but won't give up a 1st. Can't see them giving up Verajao (better contract). Triston Thompson a possibility but Houston would give up more (which i can't see them doing). Waiters the same , plus cavs need to include another big

Celts package is the best Houston can get , especially since they want flexibility on Feb 21

- In my mind already i'am a little excited to see Asik play vs Wizards on sat

Ah! I bet this all falls through and there is no Asik trade to Boston at all.

ps. Of course, I said the same thing when the KG trade came up back in the day, as well, so what do *I know. ;)

Remember what I said about believing Donny Marshall? I'll believe Marshall over Sherrod any day of the week...

If Danny trades a pick in this year's draft to get Asik, I'm going to lose a LOT of faith in him.

Yeah, but which other one do you trade if the Rockets refuse the Clipper pick?  Brooklyn could be a shambles in 2-4 years, and if our rebuild takes too long our picks could be valuable too.

Maybe offer Brooklyn's 2016 pick, lottery-protected, which rolls into our 2017 swap rights pick, also protected, and an unprotected Boston pick in 2018?

I'd much prefer giving up one of those future picks from Brooklyn, if not the Clippers pick.

We know there's a lot of talent in this draft.  Who knows what the case will be in the future?

Also I just have a hard time believing those BRK picks are going to end up being very good.

Not to mention, the time for the Celtics to add and development young talent through the draft is now.  Hopefully the team is more competitive a few years from now.

i just joined this thread and news a few minutes ago. but if ainge can get asik for bass and lee and a #1 he is brilliant.

bass and lee had no real future here, but ate up a big chunk of salary space. i was hoping ainge could move them, but did not imagine he could get asik.

i like asik, but not his salary. plus with only one year left ainge will be making some tough choices on resigning him. but i am sure he knows all this and more.

but then again, this celtics tean is desperate for a defensive center who can score a little bit...that is asik.

asik, sully, and green make a pretty good front line.

and best of all??? the celtics would still have a ton of picks left in the future. in danny i trust.

To get Asik and still keep Green , Sully and KO. and AB  would be pretty darn lucky in my mind.

It's not a bad group.

But if Avery gets the money he wants this summer, then the Celtics would have a combined cap hit of roughly $25 million just for Bradley, Asik, and Green.  Sully will need to get paid season after next, too, and Rondo will probably want to get $14-15 annual on his next deal.  That's going to be a lot of money for a group that includes just one All-Star.
