Anybody see Doc cry after and during the game last night? I heard the only way he was able to stop was from counting his money later on.

Explains why Ray is still crying.

Stevens is a 9, and I'd challenge anyone who disagrees to pay close attention to everything he does: from rotations, to OOB plays, to style. He gets everyone playing hard all the time, and playing within themselves. His pressers are great:

"So, you just blew out someone by 20+ points in a quarter, is your team awesome?"
"We still need to get better."

What a heist of an offseason this turned out to be. Ainge for Executive of the Year.

I will be flamed but I would have liked to seen him coach PP, RA and KG.   Is it just me or do we board now and still get back on D?
Agreed with this sentiment. One of the most interesting "what if?" scenarios for the team, I think.
if stevens gets this team to .500 this year, he should be a coach of the year candidate.

I was thinking he'd be a good candidate even if he achieves a significantly more modest goal  - like winning the Atlantic division title.

Coach of the Year awards aren't typically awarded to coaches who lead their team to a mere 35 or so wins (probably all that'll be needed to win the Atlantic this season).

That was the joke!

Incidentally, here is your list of NBA coaches of the year since 1970 who've won with a .500 record or worse:

Doc Rivers
Hubie Brown

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_Coach_of_the_Year_Award

(Both won with exactly 41 wins and .500)

Amazing coach. What an unexpected season we're having. I'm thankful he's signed on for the long haul.

I like him.  I think he's better than Doc (which isn't saying much considering I think Doc is vastly overrated).

Everyone plays hard, we actually make an effort on the offensive boards (and it's paid off in more points) while not sacrificing getting back on defense (but we could be better).

I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do with a roster that has more talent and better balance.

Thing I've been wanting to see is how he talks to guys in huddles and I haven't been fortunate to see that despite seeing most of the game so far.

Great great coach.  The first college coach that'll pull it off in the NBA and I'm glad he's on our side.

Bill Fitch, Dick Motta, and Jack Ramsay beg to differ.

Fun to have the best coach in the league.

If you search "coach Stevens" in the CB search function in topic threads it's a little funny what comes up.

He's turned the Celtics into the NBA's version of his old Butler teams - the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.  They play the same way and several players are playing the best basketball of their careers right now.  Obviously you credit the players but its the coach who is helping to extract their maximum potential.

Remember how all these players Danny brought in to give Doc's teams depth never quite worked out?  Everyone Danny gives Brad (almost everyone) seems to be working out.  What's that tell you?

Talk about bringing the Gestalt school of thought to the game of basketball.
