I believe that in the future, the Steven's lead championship whether it's in 2015 or 2018, will have had done it with less overall talent than the 2008 squad under Rivers which had a bench of Posey, Powe, House, BBD, Cassell, PJ Brown, & T Allen, subs for nearly every position to back up the starting five.

I think that BS's approach of using his talent in a type of chess match, is more Pat Riley-esque and could overachieve, down the road.

Not sure about that.  I think his age and inexperience wouldn't gel well with the massive egos of old veterans
He got Gerald Wallace to embrace a 6th man role for the first time in his career.

That doesn't prove much as GWall is a guy who wants to win and will do whatever as long as it gives the team a chance to win.

He's a 10 out of 10 so far.  Awesome coach.  I only wish we had hired Kidd on a one year deal and hired Stevens next year.

So far, 9 out of 10.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Stevens rotations have been excellent...Realizing we don't have a PP,Kobe, etc---he has played 10 guys a game---keeping everyone involved and feeling part of things.I would have just CUT Crawford to start this season---and he's made himself into an outstanding player--I Never would have seen this happening. I'd give him a solid 9...let's see what happens when Rondo comes back.

I was happy with the hire. I like how he uses 10 and 11 guys. Plus, it appears they are playing disciplined and designed basketball. He's a different kind of players coach than Doc was. I'm interested in seeing how they play Tuesday and Wednesday this week, especially Wednesday.

He's a good coach and is only going to get better.

i'd say 8-9 so far. i am impressed, far more impressed than i thought i would be with stevens. this team had such mismatched talents that i did not think any coach could make them work. plus the egos of crawford, wallace, et al.

color in dead wrong once more. what stevens has done not just with x's and o's, but with the team approach, his use of combinations of players, the defense, his steady demeanor....heck just getting crawford to stop putting up bonehead shots every two minutes is a miracle in itself.

this is not a good team and they may tailspin yet, but for now i am impressed by stevens. i never imagined this group of players playing so well as a team.

hats off to brad for orchestrating this, and ainge for hiring stevens.

I love the way the team has an identity now and it's sorta us vs the world.  Bass looks better than he ever looked. Humph looks good and not disinterested. J Craw looks very confident. I love the way Avery comes out shooting. I love how Fav plays. I love that really weird handshake thing that KO and Jeff Green are doing that I seriously don't even want to know about.

Past recent teams looked miserable. This team looks completely opposite.  Recent teams looked like "Aw geeze...are we gonna win? Are we going to be able to beat this team we really should beat?"   This team looks like " Let's go play ball! Oh hey? Is that Melo? Oh I just dunked on him!  Oh were we supposed to lose, because I forgot all about it."

Just two totally different situations.

I agree with this. The team seems to have really taken the "talent-void underdog" stigma and used it pretty consistently as motivation.

Definitely a positive change of pace from watching our team waiting for the playoffs to start from the tipoff of opening night.

Stevens is a 9, and I'd challenge anyone who disagrees to pay close attention to everything he does: from rotations, to OOB plays, to style. He gets everyone playing hard all the time, and playing within themselves. His pressers are great:

"So, you just blew out someone by 20+ points in a quarter, is your team awesome?"
"We still need to get better."

What a heist of an offseason this turned out to be. Ainge for Executive of the Year.

I will be flamed but I would have liked to seen him coach PP, RA and KG.   Is it just me or do we board now and still get back on D?
Agreed with this sentiment. One of the most interesting "what if?" scenarios for the team, I think.
if stevens gets this team to .500 this year, he should be a coach of the year candidate.

As long as he doesn't actually win CotY, sure. I wouldn't want him fired.

I was thinking he'd be a good candidate even if he achieves a significantly more modest goal  - like winning the Atlantic division title.
