Watched a little of the USF vs OKL game last night to see more of Smart play.

I came away very impressed with the freshman big Egbunu. Most draft sites don't have much info on him yet but he looks like a legit NBA center prospect. He is listed at 6'10 245 and looks to be all of that with good length. The announcer during the game stated that he can touch the top of the backboard and he looked explosive during the game. He also looks to have decent hands and runs the floor extremely well.

In five games he is averaging 9pts @59% 8rb 2.5blk in 25min

Might not be in the picture this year but I would not be surprised to see this kid rise to a lottery pick in 2015.

Very impressed as well. No goofiness at all, which is what you often find on these young bigs. I'll go one step further, and say he looks like a lottery pick THIS year. Especially once he likely wows scouts during the pre-draft tests.

Found this video, and although it's over 2 years old, you can see his footwork and athleticism.

I was at the game and Egbunu competes under the rim, something USF hasn't had since Ron Anderson.  He's probably closer to 6'9 1/2" or 6'10" but is very strong.  Has a nice stroke on his FT shot and will get a ton of minutes as a freshman so hopefully his game will develop.

He looks slow to me and mechanical.

On the so called athletic ability, while those dunks may look great to guys who could not dunk or can't dunk.  They  are not that good of dunks.  Some of them he is barely getting them over the rim and he is only jumping about 8 feet out with a step.  if a guy can do that without a step off two feet then that is athletic folks.

I read that he has a 40 inch vert.  But that is hard to believe given on some of these dunks.

The kid just turned 19. The video was when he was still 16 (a few months shy of 17).  Jumping off one step is much different than jumping off of a spin.  Have you seen him play yet? When you do, also watch the way he runs the floor.

He was only a 4 start prospect according to espn. Most nba prospects were 5 start prospects in high school

I wouldn't put that much stock in those rankings. They're very fluid and things change quickly. Bradley was the #1 ranked player in his class. All I can suggest is that you watch him play now.  I never watched him in high school so I don't know if he's improved from then. But I do know that he looks every bit the lottery pick now. Incredible upside. I know he was born in Nigeria so I'm actually curious as to how long he's been playing basketball.

Jumping off a spin is a good way to jump into a charge.  I really don't think it that different.   He was spinning on the ground and jumping.   A goat( named for Earl Manigault) dunk is hard but you spin in the air, big difference, some call it 360.  A lot of NBA jumping down low is off two feet.   Bigs should be two feet jumpers how many fast breaks will they get?

This guy took him to school.

You are aware that he decided to go to a big time school like South Florida?  Sun Belt Conference give me a break....

Same conference as UCONN, wasn't aware they played in the Sun Belt.  Actually he was recruited into the big east before the split and was going to play against the country's top talent.  He's a Florida/Georgia kid and was guided toward USF by his AAU coach who also took the coaches kid on scholly.  He has been a very fast riser with the limited exposure he's had.  Don't sleep on him just cause of where he plays.

I don't know how anyone can say that USF is in a bad conference.  There are 3 teams in the top 25 in the AAC right now.
