I totally forgot that Jason Kapono was an NBA player.

Both Green and Hayward had good games tonight.  I've been high on Gordon Hayward's game for a while, but I think I'd rather have Jeff.

Haywood didn't look bad at all, if you had him as a high level complimentary guy I don't see how it would hurt your team.   As a star, that is another matter entirely.

Why can't you have both?

I like Hayward a lot.  Much more than Green.  I think he can be a star.  His career trajectory has gone up, up, up.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Here's some video on Hayward and his "average" athleticism:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4YssyOJQAc

His athleticism is below that of an average NBA 2/3 player.
He's a great athlete against every guy at the local bar and against half the NCAA. He's athletic for a white guy basically.

Again, I don't hate the kid. He's a good player. I just don't want him on the Celtics. He's not the key piece to an NBA championship. And to spend 10 million + on him isn't the wisest move for us right now. I'd rather keep Green at 8-9 million and his similar offense/better athleticism/better defense than Hayward.

A white guy that it's confirmed that Ainge loves? Chandler Parsons. I'd see Ainge going after Parsons before Hayward- but neither are real game changers for the 10 million+ mark.
Just my opinion.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

His athleticism is just fine. However, he doesn't have enough lateral quickness on defense, so staying in front of people will be an issue down the stretch.

Do we really need to label Hatward as a "white" guy.

Do we really need to attach the "white guy" stereotypes to him?

Can't we just discuss him, his game and his athleticism as a basketball player?

Yeah that's why I think his best defensive position is SG so far..

His size advantage on average allows him to make up for the quickness deficient.

if people are cool with jeff green being paid 9m, then signing hayward for 9-10m (or Utah S&T-ing him for green) should be pretty much a no-brainer.

Makes zero sense to go for a lateral move like this. If you can get Hayward by dealing some surplus big men and Bradley, fine. Something along the lines of Sullinger + Bradley + picks.

Otherwise, probably a no-go.

I'd definitely rather have Sully than Hayward.
