Being in the NBA's top 50 is a pretty big deal.
To put things in perspective, being in the NBA top 50 means you're, on average, the best or the second best player on your team.

I think it's pretty clear that Jeff Green is the second best player on the Celtics right now.

Aside form Rondo, who else would be considered better?  Bradley?  Sullinger?  Humphries?  Olynyk?  Wallace?

Nah.  Right now Jeff Green is head and shouders above the rest as the second best player on this (admittedly not very stacked) team.

If he continues to play as well as (or better than) he did as a starter last season, then he will legitimately challenge Rondo for the #1 spot in a lot of people's minds.

One thing that I like about Green is that last season he had every excuse to throw in the towel and have a career-low year.   He had to accept a bench role most of the season, he was a 3rd scoring option at best on a team which struggled most of the season, he just came back from open-heart surgery, and he already collected the security of a long term $9M/year contract extension.  That's a lot of excuses for a player to sit back and slip it into cruise control, but he pushed his game to another level as soon as he got the opportunity, and it paid off in the reward of a starting role.

It's possible Wallace will be better this season.  All he'd have to do is go back to being more like the player he was 2-3 seasons ago rather than last year.

Bradley would be better if he was a more consistent shooter and regularly finished his attempts at the rim (skeptical).  Sullinger could easily be a better player if he plays solid defense, averages 12-14 points and grabs 8+ rebounds while continuing to make smart passes and take charges.

Basically, any player on the Celtics who does more than just score with average efficiency could be better overall than Jeff Green.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

True.  I think Sullinger is a better player already.  I also think Olynyk will prove himself better and more diverse than Green pretty early in the season.  I don't think it will take Olynyk and Sullinger 5 years of waiting to be on the right team at the right position in the right situation with the right teammates to establish themselves as some people think it has with Green.

I think Green is really not an alpha, he needs someone else to rift off of to be at his best.   Hopefully, I am wrong.

I agree which is why I think the Celtics will have a long season.

The Celtics lack the star power to be good.

They have a star PG who is coming back from injury, but who knows when he will play like a star again.  (Adrian Peterson is a freak of nature and should never be used as the base line for returns from injuries)

Then they have Green who is a starting level player.

There is a hole in there.
