I love Rubio and Dwight together just like I loved the idea of Rondo and Dwight together.
I think Rubio's passing ability is going to be insanely difficult to contain in the pick and roll with Dwight as a screener and surrounded by shooters.
I wouldn't be worried about Rubio's lack of shooting. I would worried about the shooting ability of 2 through 4. My two guard and my two forwards. So long as those guys are good shooters, Rubio's lack of a jumper doesn't worry me. If those guys are bad shooters, problems can compound quickly and become problematic. But by themselves, Rubio and Dwight should be able to work very well together.
Speaking of PnR, wouldn't Rubio's man simply go under the screen and sag back on Howard? Essentially jamming Howard up

That sounds like a good thing to me.

Basically both guys ignoring Rubio and just falling back on Howard.
The big still has to step out on Rubio to stop Rubio from having a wide open lane to the basket. And Dwight is still one of the quickest centers rolling to the hoop, one of the physically strongest players in the league in being able to hold deep post position (when he beats his man to the post) and an explosive leaper capable of catching and finishing a wide range of lob passes.
Stopping Rubio's drive and recovering to Dwight after showing on Rubio while limiting Rubio's passing angles is going to be very difficult for opposing teams ... even with Rubio's difficulty with his jump-shot.
Just look at Rubio and Pekovic in Minnesota.
If Jeff Green shoots anything like he does at the end of last year, the out on the failed pick and roll with Howard and Rubio is still a sharp shooting Green from three who can take a mismatch or an overplay on the three off the dribble to the hole if he wants.

Also Roy's comment of "somehow the combo made the WCF last year" was a bit misleading, as he neglected to mention that the 2012 CB Draft Blazers also included Joe Johnson and IP's pick for DKC sixth man of the year, amongst a couple of other very successful complimentary players who I won't name. The combo can go far when surrounded with the right pieces.
Rubio's shot is still dicey, but he still makes his teammates better and had the numbers to back that up (coming off his rookie season at least).
A full off season for Rubio this year should help him get back to where he was pre-injury.
EDIT: i suppose my first paragraph was more a response at Roy's shot than anything that would go towards helping the rubio/howard backers haha.
