I know after summer league everyone has visions of KO starting, and we all love Sully who's shown he can start, but seriously, I think Ainge is going to tell Stevens to spend the first part of the year pumping up the trade value of the guys he want to unload.

Guy number one will be Gerald Wallace. I fully expect that he'll be starting alongside Jeff Green at the forward spots and playing heavy minutes. I'm going out on a limb here and predicting that this well be a bounce-back season for Wallace as there will be plenty of opportunities for fast-break points, rebounds, and put-backs (all his specialties). Hopefully, he can be dealt either by the deadline (because of good play) or next off-season (since he'll only have two years left on his deal by then). Either way get ready to see a lot him. Hopefully we'll get the good "Crash" of his pre-Net days.

I'm hoping that Humphries and/or Bass will be gone before the season starts but, if not, it would not surprise me at all if Bass is our starting (undersized) Center come opening. There really is no one else to take that spot right now and, just like Wallace, Ainge need to get his stats up for trade value purposes.

Could be a crazy, chaotic small-ball lineup to start the season with Rondo-Bradley-Green-Wallace-Bass. Backed up by Pressey/Lee/Sully/Olynyk off the bench. Am hopeful that Ainge can start pumping up guys' trade values and plan the next KG-style trade to pair a true star (hopefully a big) with Rondo.

I really like the defensive combination of

G - Rondo
G - Bradley
F - Green
F - Wallace

Loads of quickness and activity on team defense. They will be able to force a lot of turnovers and create fastbreak opportunities going the other way.

I also like having that extra quickness and slashing from G-Wallace at the PF spot offensively alongside those players. This Boston isn't that talented an offensive group. Going small regularly is going to be necessary to get the extra offense on the floor.

I think that combination is going to offer Boston it's best offensive / defensive grouping.

Yeah, not going to happen. Green will not start at PF, and neither will Wallace, based on his concussion history.

I expect him to start because he will be probably the third best player on the team.

But yes, it will also increase trade value.

I think Humphries or Sullinger should start ahead of Bass at center. They are both superior undersized centers than Bass due to their superior rebounding.

Olynyk will likely be a better option than Bass at center also.

I agree with all of this.  I also think a group like that allows you to play very aggressively defensively, to try to hide the lack of an interior presence on both ends of the floor, by forcing the other teams offense out of rhythm, and causing turnovers.  Very similar to the Heat's defensive strategy.

I seriously doubt that anyone with a big contract is going to increase their trade value. It has nothing to do with their play but rather the major shift of the league revenues and costs. All sports franchises are having the same problem. After years of huge revenue growth things are topping off due to the national economy. Way too few middle class people that have money to spend. A lot of NBA teams have semi-hard caps and I expect that to continue if not get worse

I posted that line-up prediction/expectation in a couple of other threads last week.  I fully expect him to start as the PF with proably Bass at C (or Humphries to get some height and rebounding in there)

Doubt it. Green is a matchup problem for most other teams' SFs and he plays best at SF and not PF. Wallace is at a stage at his career where playing PF will only make his career end quicker. He can be a safe, hopefully healthy, backup to Green at the SF position.

I agree with this sentiment. A team looking to compete this year who needs a talented wing defender (presuming Wallace looks better this season), might jump on his contract just to have another defender for the likes of Melo, LeBron, Durant etc.
The want to compete now teams will overpay to prepare for the playoffs.

I doubt you can pump up Wallace's trade value so much that a team will be willing to take him on without getting a draft pick as compensation or being able to shed another bad long-term contract as part of the deal.  I don't think Ainge should part with any assets, not even second-round picks, just to get rid of Wallace.

If Gerald Wallace is a competitive person, it might make more sense to tell him to stay home and not even travel with the team in an attempt to crush his spirit so that he begs for a buyout that gives up at least the last year of his contract and perhaps more.

Start of the Season:

PG: A. Bradley (Rondo won't be back yet)
SG: C. Lee (Stevens will get the most out of his hustle and rebuild his confidence)
SF:  J. Green
PF:  The Klynyk (Sullinger won't be back yet)
C:  ?  (No idea...my thought is Humphries right now

I sure as hope he does.  Right now, he's looking like a awful albatross on this roster.

I'd love to see him stay healthy and play well but i just can't shake the image of his contract and playing with a fork sticking out of his back.
