Not sure about anyone else, but I would much rather watch teams vying for a championship, even if they may not have what it takes to win one than watch the Sacramento Kings/Charlotte Hornets/Minnesota Timberwolves of the world. I really hope Danny isn't going to make the club that bad because there's no guarantee he can replicate what OKC did.

You mean not win a championship?  I think we're in good hands

In a lot of ways, following prospects, watching them develop and the "hope" for the future is as entertaining as watching a playoff team.

Not to this guy.

I'll take playoffs any day.
You'd rather watch another year where the team dogs it during the regular season and then gets beat down in 4-6 games?

No thanks.  I'd rather watch the young guys develop.  Last year was a drag.  First year in a long time that I skipped a ton of regular season games.  Waste of a year.

Coaching disaster and injuries played the biggest role in all of this... injuries to our young players no less.

Yes it was a drag... but it's a drag when you're overplaying Collins as your starting center. It's a drag when you have Bass sucking for 80% of the year, and yes, even playing a lot at center. It's a drag when Jeff Green didn't assert himself until the second half since he was just returning from heart surgery. It's a drag when Jason Terry sucked, and Doc kept overplaying him alongside Rondo even though it was evident that those two can't play together to everyone but him. It's a drag when our starting SG is out for half a year, then pinholed into our starting PG which was an idiotic move.

There was a perfect storm of just things going bad last year, but most of it stemmed from coach and our player's health.

Anyone else think when we need a bucket at the end of the game, to give to olynyk? The guys one on one skill might be the best we have on the team now. Jeff green is ok, but the only thing he does is drive in for a hard layup.

Yes it was a drag... But I learn something out of it. I was and still am rooting for them in a bad and the good. Makes me realised that I'm definitely a Celtics fan.
Now it's time for some freshness. Maybe Sully would have made it to rookie of the year last season (at the rate he was improving, it was a possibility). Let's enjoy Olynyk and I hope they take Pressey as a backup PG and teach him how to get rid of his turnovers, because this boy has potential. Surprising that he was undrafted, maybe he's just dumb? I hope not...

I think you run a play involving two or three of our most dangerous offensive players.  So probably something involving Rondo, Green, and Olynyk.  Whoever ends up with the best chance at a good shot gets the ball and takes it.

That depends. In your hypothetical, is he being guarded by someone who probably should not be in the NBA, like he has been for this past week?

Last year was tough, particularly after Rondo went down and our hopes along with him.

I have loved watching this team play over the last six years, but now that Paul and KG are gone, I am ready for the next phase.

This year's squad won't be able to "dog it" during the regular season if they want any hopes of making the playoffs.  I look forward to seeing a young team develop and scrapping for a playoff berth.

C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I think you could try running a pick and roll where Olynyk gets switched onto a much smaller defender.

I take your point that summer league doesn't provide the best competition, especially as far as defense is concerned.  I think Kelly has shown enough for us to believe he ought to be able to score fairly well against guards or smaller wings, though.

Not that I disagree with you on O'Clinic, but JG isn't quite that one-dimensional. He's got a little of PP's midrange game, and he can shoot threes as well.

He does like the driving layup, but it's hard to rag on him for it, since it takes him all of two steps to get to the basket and it's pretty effective at either going in or drawing contact.

For sure, he can abuse a mismatch.

And all those threes and pump fake to midrange are shots you can get vs larger players that are covering him.

There is a lot to like vs both matchups.

That's probably the biggest thing I've seen since summer league started.  If you play a smaller man on him, he'll post you up and has the moves to straight abuse smaller players down low.  He'll get his shot off.

If you put a bigger man on him, they won't be able to stay with him on the outside with his handle, & he'll be able to space that floor and let Rondo, Green, & Wallace go to work.

He will open up the flood gates for the team on the offensive side of the ball.

I don't think making the playoffs this year is even remotely possible, but regardless... this team will play hard.  The young guys are trying to make it in this league... they can't afford to dog it.  I'm more excited about this season than i was about last year.  Last year we were at the middle of a hill sliding down.   This year we're at the bottom of a hill climbing up.   I realize we were closer to the top last year, but heading in the wrong direction.  It's just nice to be heading in the right direction again.

Let's set our sights lower.  Maybe Olynyk can bee All-Rookie with a shot at scoring enough to be ROY.

Can Olynyk take the starting power forward job away from Sullinger and Bass?

I think he's already making Danny feel better about lining up a deal to trade Bass away.  And I'd be fine with KO and Sully starting together next year--except for unfavorable matchups.

I think we want some unfavorable matchups. (Wiggins)

I can't read that last part...but God...I hope we get wiggins!
