  • GOT IT!!!
With Howard heading to Houston Asik should now be available. Is Asik a guy you would like to see at center going forward? C's could probably get him.

heck no, he has a horrid and awkwardly structured contract where he gets paid 14 mill in the 3rd year. He is a backup center at most, and isnt athletic or quick enough to pair with wiggins or rondo. i'd rather have deandre jordan than this guy.

No, good center but not what we are looking for. Good on the boards but bad offensively. Bad contract as well.

Yeah, having a guy who is a double digit rebounder, proven tough and knows that his role is to play defense and play it great is horrid.

Dont care about his contract, at worst he's an expiring deal we can flip.

For Wallace, you make the move... you actually save money, and he's expiring next year.

The contract was only structured like that if Chicago matched the Rockets offer. They would only have to pay him around 8.5 each year.

I bet he does to Atlanta for Josh Smith, or to LA as part of a Dwight deal. I don't see who the Rockets would want from us that would make sense.

If I could see how Fab Melo was doing a year from now, that question would be easier to answer. They are of the same mold, and Melo could eventually develop into an almost identical player.

Asik would get Boston back into the playoffs.

They'd want Rondo, so no. You can't build around Asik. He is a complementary piece to your other talent. A great complementary piece, but not a building block.

If there is some way we can put together an offer that would entice them without including Rondo (or Green) then I'd be all ears, but thats highly unlikely.

I mentioned this in the fake trade thread, but while Asik's a nice piece, his contract expires before we'd be expected to contend again.  We'd either need to extend him or flip him for this to make any sense.

Unless they'd take Wallace for Asik and Terrence Jones...

Not 100% sure, but doesn't Asik's contract fit into the Nets megatrade?

Send out the unguaranteed contracts of Joseph, Randolph, and White, and perhaps one of those future 1sts to Houston for Asik.

I don't see the point to sign Asik for this year unless we give Wallace in exchange.
This year is about having flexible contracts and picks for the next year(s).
