A 7 footer who is a big body, knows his role in a defence and can protect the rim that averaged a double double 10/12 pretty much. Who is 26-27......

Absolutely. He's a very solid defender and rebounder, and he just turned 27 yesterday, which would make perfect sense next to a 27-year old Rondo and a 26-year old Green. Asik is a legitimate skilled 7-footer who gets paid only a little over $8M per year, and every serious contending team not named the Heat has a dominant defensive presence in the paint. He'd be an excellent addition to a core we can rebuild around, while not having enough individual talent to single-handedly mess with our tanking.

I would be up for it only if we could trade them Gerald Wallace. If not then I don't want to pay Asik 15 million next year.

He's getting paid about $8.4M next year...

It's almost a guarantee that the hawks will want Asik back in the sign in trade.. They have been looking for a long time for a legitimate center so that they could slide horford over to the PF slot, which is what he prefers.
Highly doubt they let him slip through there fingers. However he would be a very solid asset on the Celtics, he would finally gives us that defensive center we have all been craving.

And his contract is not bad at all.... Why are people saying this? 8.5 mil a year for a defensive anchor that every team needs and we don't have, what am I missing? And spare me the tank talk, he wouldn't produce that many more wins with the current constructed team but would be very helpful in a couple years when we want to ramp up the championship chase again.

No. He would be a nice piece, a supporting role player, on a contender. We'd have to give up too much for him.
Celtics fan for life.

Not necessarily. If you can deal for Asik and rid yourself of Bass and Lee, you set yourself up for immense cap space in 2015.

Also, Asik is a better player than Bass and Lee.

Yes, Oly is a four and Melo doesn't belong in the NBA.

Go after the guy with the lower career FT% than Dwight Howard?

He also averages nearly a quarter of the attempts that Howard gets.

This is like the 10th time this has been brought up. To clarify, that only would've applied if the Bulls matched the offer sheet. Since they didn't, Asik is slated to make an even ~$8.4M each year. No team will have to worry about paying a ridiculous $14.8M to Asik in a season.

Of course, Morey would hang up on Danny as soon as he suggested this deal, but it's fun to dream.
