I was against this guy from day 1.
But recently i've warmed up to him watching some Gonzaga games. And realized also there was a reason why the team was one of the three top team in the whole div 1 in the regular season. Olynyk was a big part of that.
Look at it this way. If Gonzaga didn't get upset by Wichita State (and Olynyk again had a good game), and the team keeps moving forward and Olynyk kept producing, he would of prob been chosen alot higher. The upset was a blessing in disguise
Now my take on Olynyk is that he is a unique player. Has great size , post game, shooting and guard like skills offensively. Considered one of the two best offensively skilled pf/c (other being Muscala). Defensively he is a very good "positional" "team" defender". But don't expect him to be the "man".
If he can get leaner, stronger no doubt that will help with his explosiveness. He is taylor made to play pf in the nba. Good co ordination, iq and motor. He can be an off bench guy now, but again if he can gain another level of explosiveness he could be a starter in the nba.
When i think of Sully and Olynyk, i think of two "ugly body" players that possess old school games, technical, well coached, high iq, motor, toughness and winner. Could end of being a hell of a pick in a year or two, to worse case come off the bench and be a 6 rebound, 8-10 points consistantly guy
