I like the Wallace deal. One thing the Celtics lack and have lacked in the last couple of years is physical toughness. It is sad when your superstar undersized point guard is the toughest enforcer on your team and he has to stand up for the team against brutes like Humphries.

We need Wallace for his physical toughness. You just cannot win without an enforcer.

If we do this deal we aren't trying to 'win'.  Wallace is cooked as a player.  Terrible contract.  Why would we want him in a rebuild again???

Celtics, Nets couldn't potentially complete deal 'til moratorium ends July 10, source says. Teams need Pierce's 13-14 salary to make it work

I really thought Ainge learned from taking on zero potential players on bad contracts - like Raef and Wally...I am going to have a hard time watching this team next year if Humphries and Wallace are on it...yuck yuck yuck!!

I guess the one thing I never thought about the rebuild was that there would be a chance that I would really dis-like the players in the C's uniform...oh I hate that!  lol...

Point of information- I'm sorry if this has been discussed already, but can Gerald Wallace be amnestied (by either team)?

Could we possibly just be doing a KG trade for Hump and the 1sts, then buying out Pierce with a wink-wink arrangement that he'd sign in Brooklyn?  Seems a lot more logical from our end, though Pierce probably wouldn't like it too much.

No.

a lot of these picks are going to be used in trades

Which still wouldn't fix the fact that we have Gerald Wallace for the next 3 years.

2 years and a valuable expiring year.

Not liking the idea, but still need to be real about what it is we are getting.

Yeah I'm not a fan of taking on Wallace's contract, but three 1st rounders is a nice return... considering KG's trade value is pretty much nothing (DeAndre Jordan was a crap contract too) and the Cavs are only willing to give up a 2nd rounder for Pierce.

So it's about... would you rather have the trade exception + a 2nd rounder from the Cavs... or would you rather have 3 future 1st rounders.  The Josh Smith thing isn't very conducive to a tank job anyways... that's a "retool" not a "rebuild".  So taking on the expiring contract of Humphries, Wallace's bad contract and 3 first rounders doesn't sound too bad.  You could probably get something for Humphries contract at the deadline... my only question is if you think we could find a taker for Gerald Wallace at some point.  Anyone interested in absorbing his salary or giving up an expiring? He's not a terrible player.  A three-team trade where the Wallace went to the Cavs for a 2nd rounder would be pretty perfect... Humphries expiring, a 2nd rounder from the Cavs and three 1st rounders.  Not bad.  Do you still get a trade exception if we did that?

I'd much rather just trade KG for Humphries and 2 picks and then buyout Pierce.  Just no silver lining to Wallace's deal.

Haha - at least Green, Rondo, Avery, and Sully are still here (as of now)...Heck, I even kind-of like Crawford.

This is worse than the Deandre deal...
By definition it is as instead of a project on a two year deal we get Wallace on a three year deal, yuck.

At least Deandre was a young athletic center with some trade value.

Wallace will need a sweetener if we ever dream of moving him. The picks will all be in the mid-20's.

For people clamoring that Wallace can be useful in any way, go check his stats. This isn't Charlotte Gerald Wallace. Terry and Bass each had better efficiency rating.

I pray that this is being blown out of proportion and not even close to being considered.

That rumored Celtics-Nets trade is so bad for Boston that Doc Rivers just quit on the Celtics again.
Yeah, for once I agree with Simmons. OTOH, if Danny has a way to flip Wallace immediately for assets (even a TPE) it becomes more palatable, but who would want Wallace's big 3 year contract?

This feels like noise, or to use Jeff's front page magician analogy it's "look over there while I do something else over here to amaze you."

In a separate KG/Pierce transaction, #Celtics also interested in acquiring a 2nd rd pick. Target teams are #Cavaliers, #Blazers and #Hawks.
