If he is traded and released before the 30th the cap savings still work for the team trading for him.  Thats why his contract is somewhat important for teams trying to save money. Thats why the celtics don't want to just give him away

I would love to see Howard with the clips...It would be a blast for Rivers...Inept with divas...To have three of the biggest divas in the NBA on his roster.

It'd make D'Antoni's trainwreck last year look like coach of the year stuff.

i thought Howard wanted to play with Chris Paul? Any way he ends up playing for Doc? He wouldn't even have to move.

does this mean dallas and houston will be going after pierce? to free up room?

Excellent point.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Pierce's $5 million buyout option disappears if he's traded.

So if any of those teams traded for him wanting to drop him, they'd have to do a separate, costlier negotiation.

There was a report of his deal becoming guaranteed if he is dealt last week, but nobody could confirm. I tweeted Coon about it but didn't hear back from him.
if this is true, it essentially kills all the trade speculation for PP.  why would someone trade for him if they couldn't buy him out to free up that $?  lots of speculation wasted since they were knocked out of the playoffs

Yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and call BS on this idea that Pierce's deal becomes guaranteed if he's traded.

If that were the case, there wouldn't be nearly as much talk about him being traded as there has been.  Very few teams in the league are likely to be interested in Pierce at $15 million.

Don't know - it wouldn't surprise me if the sports media were completely wrong about it in either direction.

Hope it's your way because it helps our flexibility a lot, but at least I know I didn't dream that report.  Can't find it through Google though.

I don't trust anything that comes out of Broussard's mouth but at least he's got a 50/50 chance of being right.

Howard is such an enigma that I don't think anyone truly knows what's going on in his head, including himself.

He'll either remain in LA or be wearing a Rockets uni come fall.

Send Pierce to the Lakers for DH?

Crap...no S&T's?

Pierce vs. Doc 4X per year in the LA rivalry.

Kobe, Pierce, Gasol.

Rondo, Bradley, Green, KG, DH

Sounds good to me.

50/50 would make Broussard about 85% better than steven i smith.

Dwight on the lakers would make my life easier.  Then I wouldn't have to root for him 2-5 times during the regular season.

If he does leave dance on the lakers grave at your own risk.  Time and time again they've pulled a rabbit out of their hat (and Lebron is a free agent soon).  Will be interesting to see if they can still do it without Dr. Buss around.

Kobe just can't get along with the top C in the league no matter who it is at the time.
great to see Lakers get burned due to Kobe's being a jerk.

Take it fwiw , but brousard was just on espn saying , he is being told on strong terms that Dwight is gone.

Houston and Dallas going after him

This is Dwight Howard, who chooses nba teams the way many women choose the outfit they'll wear when they go out at night. Expect him to change his mind multiple times before anything happens.

I think they're both jerks to be fair, but Kobe's an OG jerk at this point.  Just gets shown again and again.

Dwight would totally redeem himself if he left without a S&T and just signed with a team with cap room. Leaving the Lakers with nothing would make me smile widely.

Honestly, it looked like he didn't fit the Lakers culture at all and he had a terrible time. Why stay?

That said, I'm not sure how good he is anymore and it might hurt the Lakers worse to sign him to the MAX long term.

He hates kobe. They cant coexist.

Dallas can only really get him is if he will take less one year and we all know he wont do such a thing. Its a race between clips, rockets and atl. I think rockets have the upper hand bc they have harden. And houston has lots of pieces to make a trade happen. It wont matter to howard whats best for the lakers. Worse case he will just take less one year

yeah he is.  I mean coming off of back surgery he still was a 17.1p/12.4r/2.4b player.  He led the league in defensive rebounds, rebounds per game, was 2nd in total rebounds, and 5th in blocks per game (4th in total blocks).  This is coming off a back surgery, on a new team, with new teammates, and a revolving door of coaches and systems.  Howard is by far the best center in the NBA and next year he will extend the margin.
