The Cavs have likely spoken to the Celtics about small forward Paul Pierce’s availability. The latest rumor is the Cavs offering their two second-round picks for the 35-year-old Pierce. Pierce’s $15.3 million contract for next year would become guaranteed if he’s dealt.

Probasketballtalk

So cavs already offered this deal to us but the article doesnt say anything about a trade exception coming with the picks

Isn't a trade exception assumed?

I think your right because of pierces high contract.

you automatically get the trade exception. If pierce goes to the cavs who have enough room to take on his salary the celtics would get a trade exception for the amount of 15 million dollars that they would have to use within a years time.  here is a link!!

Hypothetically if this goes through, who would we take with these seconds? Also, when would we have to do it by?

It would have to go through prior to the draft because we would get both picks.  But i don't see how danny doesn't make this trade it would be awesome to get a first but you do it for the trade exception alone.  Icing on the cake is 2 second rounders which danny actually drafts better than 1st rounders.

I would like them to get one guard from this group, Green, Goodwin, Jackson, Ledo or Kabongo. With the other pick probably a draft and stash euro.

DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I'd go for Isaiah Cannaan from Murray State and Glen Rice Jr if he's still there. Basically, whomever slips. Jeff Whithey too.

A lot of people have said they want to trade Pierce for a draft pick and cap space.  This deal is the equivalent of that, as I'm sure we'd be able to package the two picks for one #1.

If this trade goes down are we able to sign josh smith and maybe al Jefferson without a sign and trade or just able to sign one of them. If we wanted both of them

Cavs lowball offer for Pierce?

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere...didn't see it though.  Cavs offer two 2nd rounders for Pierce.

Edit: didn't look hard enough at ALL.  Apologies.

I'd go for Livio Jean Charles and Tony Snell or Caanan.  I'm assuming Snell can play SG as well as backup 3.  Jean Charles will be a backup 3 who can slide to 4 in small ball.

Pierce should retire. This is getting embarrassing. He's going to be one of these Actors that get pulled off the Stage with a hook.

Pierce is worth at least a first and a second. Such a great player should be shown more respect on the way out. What are they going to get at 19 that is that much different?

But it would mean something to the Captain, who has given many great years to Boston. Should be 19 & 33.

What about, Pierce and Terry or Lee (if ATL is interested in either of those two, then the other one...Bass is probably too much to hope for) for pick 19 and 31.

Cleveland still adds their #1 pick and one second rounder to their roster, they clear 15mil off the cap next season for a run at a player who can opt out after next season, whoever that might be, and would definitely make the playoffs next year.

Boston gets to use $20mil of trade exception.  $12mil and whoever we trade to ATL goes to Smith.  Then we have a $8mil trade exception left to try and get a Kaman maybe?  If not him then another big or save it.

Then you can try to get Schroeder and Giannis and maybe Withey in the second round.
