Sam Amico is reporting--but can not confirm--a rumor that would send The Truth to Cleveland:

According to one report, the Cavs and Boston Celtics are discussing a trade involving the Cavs' two second-round picks (Nos. 31 and 33) for Celtics forward Paul Pierce. FOX Sports Ohio has been unable to confirm that report.

Because the Cavaliers are under the cap, a trade like that could potentially create a trade exception for Danny to use in a year. As helpful as that would be for a future rebuild (<--I'm beginning to hate that word), it would be a sad ending to The Truth's Hall of Fame career.

That's actually not bad.  We get a trade exception and two picks that are pretty close to being 1st round picks.

I can't imagine the Cavs would keep Pierce, but if they do, Irving + Waiters + Pierce + Varejao + Noel could be a fun team.

Not bad, a trade exception can come in very handy. I was hoping for the Mavs 1st round pick (#13), but considering this draft class, two 2nd rounders and a trade exception may be the better option

I saw this and it's intriguing, although I think if we are only getting two second round picks I would want them to take Terry as well to clear space.

I would like to see if we could get the 19th pick instead of one of the seconds. I'm very curious if we would just tank in 2014 or use the exception to add someone of note.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

In this draft I wouldn't be all that excited, but the TE would open up the possibility of bringing in one of the major FAs this offseason.

What's the rational for the cavs? Would they actually plan on keeping Pierce?

Trying to make the playoffs, Irving has been making noise about being sick of losing and tanking (he joked about being held out longer due to tanking rather than injury)

Their SF situation is one of their biggest holes.

Yeah, there are some decent talents around that point in the draft.

We could end up with a couple guys like Glen Rice Jr. and Tony Snell or Mike Muscala.

Why would they not want to keep him? Do you think they want to flip him for something else? The obviously would exercise the option.

Yeah, you're right, if we're not trading for a bad contract or anything there's no reason for them not to keep him.

Yeah I'm curious about this. Sam Amico also mentioned that we discussed a trade with Milwaukee as well. Ainge is more cold blooded than I thought if he is going to send Pierce to the bucks of cavs.

With this trade exception, could we use it at anytime?

Edit: Meaning do we have to wait a certain timeframe before we could use it?

Isn't the rational obvious? He makes them a better team.

Yeah, we could use it to get Josh Smith (eh . . .) or just hold onto it and maybe use it around draft time next year.

I'd prefer to use it next year.  Free agent class is better then anyhow, and we don't need to worry about winning this season.
