What a disaster this upcoming season is going to be....just a poorly timed, disorganized mess.

"Laker boy" was drafted by the Celtics and played for the team for 3 years.

Ideal head coach if you're trying to win is prob Larry Bird right?  That'd be awesome.

But since we're trying to tank... hire ML Carr.  Or honestly, anyone who is willing pull a 2007 Doc Rivers and intentionally lose games for the sake of the team.  That means playing our raw rookies in late game situations and pretending like you are just "developing" them.  I remember when Ryan Gomes flat out admitted it in an interview that he was benched in the 4th quarter, because winning wasn't a priority.  We need a coach willing to risk his reputation (in the face of the offbase hysteria of the fanbase) by playing Fab Melo in crunch time.

You say you remember that Ryan Gomes flat out admitted it in an interview that he was benched in the 4th quarter, because winning wasn't a priority, the reality of the situation is he *wished* he was benched in the 4th quarter because winning wasn't a priority. You don't bench players like Gomes to tank, you bench players like (from that group) PP and Big Al and Rondo, even Perk.

hope not.  hate Shaw with a passion for the way he acted when drafted and then left the C's.  never lived up to the potential
While my hate for Shaw is not Pitino-esqe, I hold him with the same disdain as Rick Fox.

I hold him in much more disdain than Fox, who was screwed over by Pitino.

And hated it and hated playing for the Celtics and loved playing for the lakers and also being an assistant coach for Phil Jackson there?

I would be very happy with Brian Shaw. I think he is one of the best head coaching prospects in the league. I am very optimistic about him.

I love the Triangle offense. It is beautiful. It's a pity we have Rondo. Can't run it with him here. It would be a waste of his talents. I am confident Brian Shaw with all his experience in different systems will comfortable running a different type of offense to better suit Rondo. So I am not concerned about that.
Yeah I don't understand  the Shaw hate I thought he was pretty well respected

Probably depends on how long you've been following the team.

Maybe the next choice will be Jon Barry.

Right, if you think of him as a Laker assistant or a Celtics draft pick.

I also agree with the awesomeness of the Triangle, and the general awesomeness as Shaw as the new head coach, but it doesn't really jive with our roster (specifically Rondo).

I don't get the Larry Bird Love

You don't get the Larry Bird Love? On a Boston Celtics site? For a man who won coach of the year and helped turn the Pacers around?

That said I don't see Bird ever coaching again and he sure wouldn't coach a bad team. Now if he wants to run the Celtics then kick DA out today and give Bird whatever he wants.

Shaw's never been an nba head coach. Sure, he sounds promising, but  while some promising coaches succeed most of them fail.

I want Patrick Ewing coaching the Celtics.

He'll be a very good mentor to Sully and DeAndre (i'm assuming the trade pushes through), especially Jordan.

I don't want Patrick Ewing on the team. I don't rate him as a coach. Although I think he would make a better head coach than assistant / big man coach.

Not impressed by his work with Dwight Howard or Yao Ming. The only impact I saw on Dwight was that ugly running hook crap he does. And Yao? Yao credits Thibodeau for his development in Houston (especially on defense and avoiding foul trouble). All the hours Thibs spent with him. Not Ewing.

I don't have confidence in Ewing as a coach. But like I said, I'd rate him higher as a head coaching prospect than an assistant. I think he has more of the leadership and motivational side of things than teaching fundamentals and developing players. Still, concerns over his limitations would have him well down the list of possible coaching prospects in the assistant ranks.

Who didn't want to play for us and we had to take him to court to keep him from playing overseas. Then he went to the Lakers.

If he was some kind of top coach I'd get over these two things and welcome him in. But he's not and we're not going to be good for a long time so it really won't matter who's the coach. But I think it be funny if what he did back then came back to bite him in the can now.

I am old enough to remember how Brian Shaw hated the Celtics when we drafted him.  He did everything he could do to avoid wearing the green.  The guy sickens me. No olive branches for this purple and gold blooded clown.
as do i
nate mcmillian please

I would love to have Nate McMillan here. One of my favourites.

surely we can do better than Vinnie .   Who maybe  a nice guy and person,  is not major NBA coach ...

unless the owner want the Celtics to remain bottom feeder for the next 20 years and be like the Bobcats

I've relented, I will be ok with Vinny or Shaw as coach. It makes sense if we want to pay someone a small salary while we lose games and get a good 2014 draft position.
