Celtics are waiting to hear from Clippers on a couple of options that would give Boston payroll flexibility in Doc Rivers deal, sources say.

Celtics and Clippers haven't gone to sleep. Sides still mulling offers.

This kind of report is a little depressing. Looks like Butler gets included with Lee and/or Jet going. Maybe a good move in the long run but not very exciting -- no assets other than DJ and the pick.
Danny is getting bent over here smh
In his defense, the Clippers have us by the balls.
If Doc wants to join them, what is he supposed to do? Keep a coach who doesn´t want to work for you? That´s a recipe for disaster.
If Doc doesn't want to coach here, he can sit out 3 years.
Look, if it was up to me, we´d play hardball, too, but it isn´t. Doc is holding all the cards.
These things happen all the time in european soccer. When this trend started, many clubs tried to play hardball and keep their star player, and almost all of them regretted it. Too many bridges burnt, no matter what the involved parties stated publicly, and everyone lost one way or another. It has come to a point where most people simply accept that you can´t keep a player who doesn´t want to play for you.
And this problem only gets compounded when it comes to head coaches, because of their unique position.
I think there is no way for Doc to come back after the last few weeks and act like nothing happened. Sacks knows it, I´m sure Danny knows it, too, and now it´s just about saving face.
