Why is Danny acting so timid? He has all the leverage.

I don't see how Ainge has any leverage here.

1. KG will only waive his NTC to go to the Clips.
2. Doc will only go where KG goes.

Ainge has a list of one team he can make this trade with. He can't shop around for the best return.

He has the option of doing nothing.  Doc steps down, KG retires, and then he gets the chance to speculate on which of a bunch of free agents would be better for asset accumulation.  IMO at 10mil + 15% DJ isn't on a great deal, DA isn't buying low to sell high on him.

I guess there is the option that DA really likes DJ and sees him as part of the future.  That takes a pretty big leap of faith though...

Even if KG retires and Pierce is waived we don't have a lot of cap space to land FAs.

Rondo, Lee, Bass, Terry, Green eat up our space pretty quick.

If this deal goes down, Blake Griffin or Josh Smith will be in a Celtic uniform, NOT DeAndre Jordan.  Danny always demanded a lot when trading the Big 3.  Do you guys honestly believe he's going to let KG, Pierce, Doc and possibly Terry walk for a terrible player on a huge contract and a late first round pick?

Well I am assuming that if KG / PP are gone that the floodgates are going to open and DA will be trading other players.  I never said you were going to rebuild just by KG retiring and buying out PP.  I am just saying that not doing the deal with the clippers is another option.  If the team isn't sold on DJ or his trade value to help with the the rebuild, then what is the point?

If DA is able to package some of our other contracts, then it is better.  But DJ + 1st round pick for KG + Doc is not doing us any favors for rebuilding.

If and when this deal gets done, the Celtics Marketing Machine will need to work a lot of overtime to reinvent the face of the franchise.  Not too long ago, they were loving life with the Big 3 on the programs, tshirts, commercials, etc, etc.  Then it was the Big 2 + Rondo.  Now it will be Rondo, Jeff Green, and Avery Bradley?!?!  PU.
Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.

And don't think the #celtics are just going to waive Pierce just to see him sign with #clippers a day later. They want return for PP.

Sg: Wade/R. Allen/Rivers
SF: Lebron/M. Williams

I agree with this idea.  Doing nothing is a viable option for a couple of reasons:

1) I'm not convinced this is as ugly as some are making it out to be.  For all we know, the Clipper approached DA, DA then approached Doc, KG, and asked them if they would be interested if he could make it work, they said yes, and now here we are.  If that's the case, I don't see why everyone can't be happy coming back.  That's what they all signed up for anyway and the only reason this trade is even palatable to them to begin with is because DA would be giving all three of them essentially Celtics West.

2) By doing nothing, Danny saves money in the long run by not taking on Jordan's big contract (amongst potentially others).  He can then use that money in 2014 or 2015 for potentially more valuable players.

Again, I think there's pros and cons to deal, but I don't think Danny HAS to make a move.

I really don't understand why some Celtics fans hate this trade. This team is in a clear decline. Its time to make some changes, and Doc doesn't want to be apart of that.

DeAndre Jordan, Eric Bledsoe and a 1st round pick is what I'd be happy with. For an aging Kevin Garnett and a COACH. I'll take it.

C: DeAndre Jordan, Fab Melo
PF: Jared Sullinger
SF: Jeff Green
SG: Avery Bradley, Jordan Crawford
PG: Rajon Rondo, Eric Bledsoe

I like this team on paper. Very young and promising. Obviously we need to add pieces, via free agency and the draft.

Free agents like Tony Allen, Earl Clark, and Al Jefferson could be good additions to this team. I like Al Jefferson and Tony Allen, both guys were here before and loved to play here.

As for a coach, you MUST sign Brian Shaw. Under study to Phil Jackson and was with Indiana this past season, who gave the Miami Heat a run for their money in 7 games in the Easter Conference Finals with a young team as well.

You're missing the part where there seems to be no chance Bledsoe is in the deal, which kills the attractiveness.

I'm cool with the deal if Bledsoe is in it or Terry and Lee are going to the Clips.
