The thing is with that cap space can we still sign Josh Smith? And then sign some deadly shooters for the bench?

If we can do that, Rondo/Bradley/Green/Smith/Jordan isn't that... Its a good defensive team at best, and if we can have enough cap space to sign shooters on the bench it'll have a decent tandem. We'll probably re-sign Barbosa too.

We won't have cap space to get Smith, have to be via TE or sign and trade.

Moving KG for Jordan doesn't lighten our salary situation this year.

See this is the thing that I don't understand.  Jordan's contract will be up to 11.5mil (?) against the cap.  Jordan will then be a tough sell to move to another team.  Swapping out Jordan for KG doesn't give us cap space, and it doesn't give us a very tradable asset. 

Why are we in such a hurry to deal KG.  So what if Doc wants out?  Let him retire and go into broadcasting for 3 years.  If that means KG retires, well then we get KG's cap space and can use it for a more tradable asset.  We aren't a contender next year with Doc, KG, and PP.  We also aren't a contender next year with some other coach, DJ and our current roster.  It just doesn't make sense to me that we are the ones being 'dictated' to.

This is true. And while it was a heroic effort, I couldn't shake the feeling he was one hard foul away from his body falling apart.

You can't play him in a lot of key situations, so he won't be a factor in any of his strengths (rebounding and shot blocking) because that's such an issue.  So yes his rebounding rate is good but within his overall game there are issues that will detract from allowing him to rebound on our team.

I know he can rebound and block shots.  He is just very flawed and that impacts his ability to produce on his strenghs.  Tough to play this guy when you can run a Hack-a scheme at him.

This is also true. I take issue with the idea that because his minutes are limited that he's actually a bad rebounder. When Kevin Love was played fewer minutes by Kurt Rambis was he any less of a rebound machine?

It should be noted that under the new CBA (and both Terry and Jordan's deals were signed post-lockout), the team trading the player away has to pay the trade kicker. 

Not sure who has to absorb the cap hit though.

So the Celtics are trading for a high lottery pick (their own) in the expected to be great 2014 draft and the 25th pick in this draft that could be used on someone like Ledo or Giannis.  I don't mind this deal.
