Did Deandre Jordan really shoot 38% for FT last year? That takes horrible to a whole other level.

No Bledsoe, no deal.

The only thing I can think of is that we are heading for the ultimate tank job if we do this deal.

Who can shoot Free Throws for us at the end of the game next year besides Jeff Green?

Sully!
Hard to shoot free throws from the bench.

RT @MarkHeisler: This just in: Truth is in the proposal they're working on w/KG. May mean #Celtics take Caron w/1 year at $8M, plus whoever else

I think this is just a grand scheme by Danny to get Ryan Hollins back in town

makes no sense unless we are getting butler and Bledsoe back .

Otherwise , keep PP for another trade to get assets

it is going to be Jordan and the clippers pick this year and next in the first round...which both will be low and have no impact on rebuilding

just hire del negro and really ramrod the fans danny

Welcome to a decade of irrelevancy.

Horrible, horrible trade.

Or.. Pierce, KG, Rivers all leave within a year and we begin a full-blown rebuild?

Such a unidirectional mindset. Perhaps look at the complete picture before posting senselessly?

Perhaps consider the whole of the state of the Celtics franchise before posting senselessly.

This is a terrible, terrible move that yields less value than awaiting the retirements of Garnett and Pierce.

If KG and Pierce simply retire, then Boston gets nothing out of it except the chance to stink for a year and hope the lottery balls bounce their way.  Jordan, while overpaid, is still a legitimate NBA center and it's always useful to have a few extra 1st round picks.

To me, the key is actually Pierce.  If Pierce is going somewhere else to bring back additional assets, that's one thing.  There is NO WAY Ainge can send KG, Doc and Paul to the Clips and only get back Jordan, a couple of firsts and maybe some salary cap relief.  It would be better to just let KG and Paul retire than take that deal.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
If Bledsoe wont come in then they better do a Terry for Caron Butler swap along with it.

At least that gives us a bit more breathing room next year.

Pierce and Garnett combine for $27 million on the books. Unless it's another "agreement to release", I can't see enough salary coming back.

Unless, of course, it's Pierce + Garnett for Jordan, Griffin, and Butler, but that's just a pipe dream.

Not surprised. It's what everyone wanted. Sad to see that this is looking like a reality. Tough day to be a fan

Somehow trade for Gordon Hayward and get rid of Terry/Lee/Bass. When KG/Doc/Pierce retire, we'd have Rondo, Hayward, probably not Bradley, Green, and Sully, along with loads of cap space.

geezus, deandre jordan sucks.  i've been all about trading to move on, but that deal without bledsoe is freaking awful.  how about they just keep all the players and just take all salaries.  seriously,  i know it's not possible, but i'd rather not have jordan at all in that trade.

No...don't say that...he will be the best big man with KG sunning himself in LA!

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--celtics--clippers-resume-push-to-get-kevin-garnett-doc-rivers-deal-done-160920220.html

Quote
The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers are discussing possible compromises to including guard Eric Bledsoe into the Kevin Garnett-Doc Rivers deal with hopes of completing an agreement on Monday, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett could soon be headed to Los Angeles. (Getty Images)Discussions over a blockbuster deal reached an impasse on Saturday when Boston general manager Danny Ainge held firm that Bledsoe had to be a part of package that included DeAndre Jordan and a first-round pick, but sources say that Boston has shown a willingness to find another asset to supplant Bledsoe and complete the complicated deal, sources said.

What other "asset" do the Clippers have, though? None that I can see. Butler is still decent but is 33, so I wouldn't be inclined to call him an asset.
my guess it will be salary relief i.e. Bass, Lee, or Terry is included in the trade with Butler coming back.

I could go for that. Butler's still a decent player and could make a good backup to Green at the 3. And I'd be totally fine cutting Bass, Lee, and especially Terry to clear some cap space.

One thing to remember, I think, is that Danny's end game is much more than DJ or Bledsoe, I'm sure, as others have suggested—he's probably collecting as many pieces (youngsters, draft picks, and cap space) as possible in order to go over one or two star/superstar players, such as Josh Smith, Al Jefferson, DMC, etc.
