He was looking like a lost cause before he was coached by Karl...frankly the way he played in spurts under Karl was why he was overpaid...Karl was then completely in the right not to over play the knucklehead and knew it better then anyone, certainly you. And the other thing is, he played Koufos only 22 minutes and Mozgov only 9 minutes a game.  All three of those guys were pretty similar rebounders, passers, and shooters.  McGee got a few more shots per game, but that was as much of who he played with than anything else.  I mean was Karl supposed to play Iguodala, Gallinari, or Faried less minutes.

Here comes the tank, baby.  Rondo will miss most of the year, KG will retire.  Pierce will get bought out.  We'll win about 15 games.  Hire Vitaly Potapenko as coach just to ensure we're terrible.

Agree with much that has been said. Doc is incapable of making the tough decisions that a Celtics coach would have to make with or without Pierce and KG. If they stay they need to have their roles redefined (not going to happen under Doc). If they go Doc is not going to be the one to motivate a Rondo centric team. Rondo is too cerebral and without the ability to feed off of KG's intensity will be hard to coach.

Hand it to Doc - smart guy - knows his own strengths and weaknesses. Great run, but time to move on.

So for the last few years almost everyone on this board says that Broussard just basically makes up stuff to stay in the headlines.  Why does everyone automatically believe it is true?

I will be more concerned when someone like Woj or Jackie Mac starts reporting this.

Why are you so confident about how Bird would approach this situation?

"Larry Bird" feels like a proxy for how you would handle it.

Bird has a pretty clear track record of handling personnel issues in Indy.  He's been interviewed quite a lot on GMish topics, and has been incredibly consistent, in terms of temperament, forever.

He also fired his best friend when it needed to be done.

There's no BS with Bird.  This uncertainty whether someone under contract "feels like" coming back would be something I would expect Bird as a manager to get resolved quickly, one way or the other.
