  • You say when......
I didn't know Memphis was trying to get rid of Randolph.....so maybe then.....milsap or big al..maybe easier to blend in though......zack would need kg to make him keep his cool I think......they all are good....as forwards.....they are just not centers...so don't go thinking you are getting a center......it is a bad move to play a forward as a center....center is a diff mindset.....and is the 2nd most difficult position on the floor. with pg being the hardest.....

The big advantage of getting Zeebo is there are only two years of his deal left, which is the same as KG's and gives us a large expiring contract in 2014.
I do not see 2 years and done as an advantage. I want someone who will stick around and contribute for a while.

yup... this is about where I'm at....we really need a center in the worst way ......I'd throw the money at finding a center to build around.

This is the biggest thing for me.

No more picking up veterans for the "last run."  I don't want to take a freakin' last run.  I want to keep winning.

That's the problem with Terry's contract; as a veteran ring chaser, he should be playing for the minimum.  He's being paid like a key piece.  Apparently, he fell off a cliff pretty quickly, or Ainge made a mistake.

Either way, there is no reason to give the full MLE or spend big money for an old player any longer.

While I don't want to go after guys who are close to being out of the league, I don't see a reason to shy away from a player who could reasonably still be starting for 4-5 more years in the league.  I don't know if Randolph will be effective for that long, but there is probably some advantage to be gained if a GM can be good at figuring out which veterans other teams will give up on too quickly because they think they have little left in the tank.

I guess the argument is that while we still have 2 All Star caliber players, we must try our best to get the best result while we have them.
Put it this way..
#KG has 2 years
#Bass has 2 years
#terry has 2 years
#Rondo has 2 years
#lee has 3 years
#Bradley has 1 year..(maybe 2?)

We have a solid core and the money tied up for 2 years. Which kinda sux but also means its really hard to stay 'young' and keep winning.
I mean you dont have to call it one last run.
Moving Pierce means we are doing it for a shot at a title. Its easy  to say lets get ready for the future but we have KG, Rondo and Jeff Green NOW, with the oppurtunity to add another All Star caliber piece to this core. Who knows when we'll have another core like this?
We must do whatever we can to win now while we have 3-4 potential All Star caliber players.

We have KG for the defensive purposes as a center. What we are lacking is an inside presence on offense and thats what Randolph brings. He rebounds and gets loose balls under the rim with all his heart and he can SCORE.
We do need more bigs though. We need at least 2 quality backup big men. Id love to keep Shablick because he's got a similar style to Randolph going after the ball. We also need to draft or acquire a rim protector off the bench. Someone like Ian Mahinmi would be perfect.
Our defense is great with KG protecting the rim. If we can get Randolph or Millsap to play power forward, it puts less pressure on KG on offense so he can concentrate on defending.the paint. Imagine adding Randolphs 17 points and 10 rebounds a game to our system. I mean he did that coming of major ACL surgery, sharing the paint wth Marc Gasol. With arondo passing to him with easy looks under the rim and KG helping defensively hed be an absolute beast.
Randolph, and two bench enforcers at least 6 feet 10 to come in and protect our lead when Kg and Randolph sit.

The Celtics have a payroll that makes a sign-and-trade difficult.  The Celtics would have to do a sign-and-trade to get Jefferson.  They would not have to do a sign-and-trade to get Zeebo.
