God I hope not.

We have Rondo already, draft someone else. There are still nes around 16 that has tremendous upside, no need to get a PG who wont get the minutes and not develop because we have a star caliber one already. Waste of a pick.

Disagree Yoki.

No guarantee Rondo will be "Rondo" when he returns. Also, his contract is up in two years and he'll surely be looking for max or close to it. I'm not comfortable paying Rondo max money.

Makes sense to draft a PG now and groom him for a couple seasons.

I hope Danny drafts Schroeder with the 16th or does something so we can get him.

Then ship Rondo out.

With Schroeder it will be like Rondo never left.

Like Rondo never left? That's a joke..

Trial by fire until Rondo's fully rehabbed makes sense if the C's want a good draft pick next year.

Yeah, what did you say. If he plays as well as rondo, there is no way he would fall to us. So either he is the most underrated player in the class and we get a steal, or, the more likely option, he isn't as good as rondo...

If we draft thi guy that probably means t-will is out

Then we'll be flipping somebodies for Milsap/Jefferson / or other Big   , IF C's land HIM.

TP.

Now - although this summer may be a tad early because teams may want to see Rondo play post-injury - is exactly the time to move Rondo and draft a replacement.

Ainge will have gone totally insane if he gives Rondo a max deal.

I don't understand why drafting Schrouder, or any other point guard, should mean that Rondo is tradeable.  Even if Rondo is 100% healthy, he can't play 48 minutes a game.  You probably don't want him playing more than 36-38 minutes, which means you need someone else for that other 10-12 minutes, and we have no one on the roster capable of that.

You draft Schrouder, play him as a backup for a couple of years, and then either keep him and move on from Rondo in 2015, or have a cheap backup that people are willing to pay a lot for, like Eric Bledsoe.

Seriously, the Pats drafted Ryan Mallett in the beginning of the third round, which isn't much different than the middle of the first round of the NBA draft, and no one is talking about trading Tom Brady.  And Mallett is never expected to paly, whereas Schrouder would be guaranteed some amount of minutes even with Rondo as the starter.  We need a backup point guard, and Schrouder shouldn't be looked at as anything more, at least not until he's proven himself on the court for a couple of seasons.

What about Rondo/Lee for Jefferson+ the 13th? Still need to use the MLE for a starting PG until or if Schrouder is ready.

Millsap works too, but they'd have to throw in a S&T or give up some thing else to make numbers work. Or just cut Lee out of the deal.

Schroeder has fell in some mock drafts because his workouts were bad. He is very raw and would probably need some time in the d-league, unless the team drafting him is similar to a d-league team if you know what I'm saying.

Rondo will be Rondo, that's certain.  It might not be right away, but he will fully recover.

If he's that raw, and we draft him, I hope he stays in Europe for another year.  No reason to waste his rookie deal keeping him on the D-league.  Let him develop on a European team's dime.

Same thing goes for Giannis if we draft him.  We should use Europe like a baseball minor-league system, where the free agency clock doesn't start until you make it to the big leagues.

I agree that should be the plan for him or Giannis.

I understand the "what if", really I do. But I'm working on the premise that Rondo is coming back healthy. And if that's the case, Shroeder won't have the PT he needs to develop. All the while we could be using that pick for say, Steven Adams, who while raw, has the potential as high as Schroeder does, add to the fact that we need a big as well.

Plus, drafting Schroeder puts pressure on Rondo to maybe rush his rehab, thinking he does not want to lose his job, to a rookie nonetheless, and that could be even worse.

I'm still leaning towards wanting to see Steven Adams in green, but I've got to admit it would be kind of cool to watch the DKC Seventy-Sixers' point guard of the future backing up Rondo.

If we do draft Schroeder, I'd like to see Doc go a little crazy and play the two of them together at times.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson
