  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
At the moment I think Danny is going to kill two birds with one stone in this draft.
The talent isnt franchise changing so whilst trading up may be relatively cheaper, you are more likely to find value later on in the first round and second round.

Hes bringing a lot of stone set 2nd round picks into the draft workouts, namely point guards and big men. The list is a normal batch but we dont have a 2nd rounder this year. This is part of his dilligence to think about potential trades though aswell so take it how you want.
My gut feeling at this stage (yes we are a month away and I am probably going to be completely wrong).

* we trade the 16th pick down in the draft for a late first and a 2nd rounder.
Pick up a big man late in the first round. Hopefully Noiguerra or Dieng or Withey are around. A bench big man who can protect the rim.
Perhaps Peyton Siva or a ready to play back up PG with an early second rounder.

*My dream scenario would be getting Dieng or Noiguerra with a late first, and then picking up Ricky Ledo with an early second. Keep Williams around as Rondos  back up pg and hopefully one of these two picks can become a solid contributor like big baby or Steimsma.

I do think Danny may move up if the right player is still available..ie  give up the 16th and  a future second to get Dallas' 13th pick and get Shabazz or Schroeder.
Dallas is trying to clear capspace for this trade deadline and Dwight Howard so theyll be open to swapping picks and stashing a project overseas for a year or two so the few million they owe him doesnt count against the books.

What also may happen is that to get that Pierce gets traded.
To me, i think if he goes on draft night it for someone to waive him for cap relief., in which we get more assets or picks back from this draft or next years.
I think its more likely to happen after the All Star break around deadline time once CP3 and Howard decide where they want to go. Pierce's scoring will be wanted by someone.

What do you think will most likely happen and what would be your realistic dream scenario on 2013 draft night?

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

With all the eyes on Paul Pierce, I think Bradley will actually be the one moved. Just a hunch
*CB Miami Heat*
Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

I think we keep Pierce for now. He's an expiring contract that could easily get us something decent at the deadline.

I predict we either draft Shane Larkin (in that case Danny tells himself "backup pg problem solved for the next decade), Olynyk, Plumlee, Erik Green, or Dieng. He may also take someone like Giannis and leave him overseas a couple years, but I don't think DA has ever really done something like that before.

Didn't he do that with Semih Erden?

Yes and he attempted it with Darius Songalia, but I meant with a first rounder

Dallas really wants cap space, right?

Could we trade them Paul Pierce (15 mil) for:

Shawn Marion - 9 mil
Vince Carter - 3 mil
Jared Cunningham (22 year old SG picked #24 last year) - 1.2 mil
#13 pick

...

Dallas could then release Pierce and would then only have the following under contract:

Dirk - 22.7 mil
Money leftover for Pierce - 5 mil

Total about 28 mil.  OJ Mayo is opting out of his contract.  Dallas would have 30 million to offer free agents.  They could target both Chris Paul and Dwight Howard as a package deal.  They'd have Chris Paul, Dwight and Dirk for a year... then the next year Dirk falls off the books and they can go after LeBron.

From Boston's perspective, we are rebuilding anyways.  Marion and Carter expire at the end of the year... we could float them at the deadline.  The #13 pick and Cunningham are just a couple minor assets we get for dumping Pierce.  We can use them towards our rebuild.  Could also try to package #13 + #16 and move up a bit in the draft.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Problem: Marion has said he won't report to a rebuilding situation.

Possible solution: Cuban sends part of the buyout for Marion in cash back in the trade as well, and we make a lot of noise about keeping Marion then waive him.

Something tells me Danny moves up in this draft. How idk. I don't think Pierce gets moved. I think something will either happen before the draft with Pierce or Pierce is staying for next season. I say we move up somewhere between 7-13 and pick a big man.

I predict the Celtics field a ton of offers for Pierce but finally end up keeping him.

I predict that we make our pick at 16 (Adams, Shabazz, Olynyk or Giannis) then buy a second rounder to get Larkin.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

interesting deal.  would be tough to turn down but I wonder what we'd do with all those bodies on the roster.  sure the China 3 can go and PP is gone but you're adding Marion, Carter, Cunningham and 2 1st rounders.  we're 1 over the roster limit I believe.  need to move some more bodies to get the roster down.  JET, Lee, AB, Crawford and Bass are all fine candidates to go IMO but not seeing any takers.
