I say someone who wants to be here, someone who does not have to think about it every off season. 7 million a year should buy you a little bit of loyalty and commitment, if you know what I mean.

Kevin McHale. Bring him here under the auspices of Head Coach/Ast. Vice Pres of Basketball Operations or whatever other title will get him out of his contract in Houston and here in Boston. Let him coach the youngsters up and suck for a few years and when it looks like the team is ready to move back into contender status, graduate McHale into the front office and hire someone with experience and stature to bring this team to a ring(Carlisle, Spoelstra, maybe even Doc again or someone along those lines)

LOL. Doc was offered more control, more responsibility, and more money by Orlando, and he's staying here. Enough loyalty for you?

http://espn.go.com/boston/nba/story/_/id/9306771/doc-rivers-shows-no-signs-leaving-boston-celtics

Quote
"Well, I don't think anyone is looking forward to [rebuilding]," Rivers said, "but I'm willing to do that. I've had a group that has been very loyal to me, and I think it would have been very easy to just run and go somewhere else and chase something else. … I just don't think that's the right thing to do. Coaches talk about loyalty and team, and I just thought it was time to show it."

That will not stop the offers from coming. Last season, the Orlando Magic offered Rivers the job of team president, which would have entailed everything from schmoozing with corporate sponsors to running the front office. Though he had previously insisted he had "little to no interest" in running a franchise, the financial windfall and unilateral power that would come with such a position (not to mention the proximity to his home base) gave him some brief pause. Ultimately, Rivers rebuffed the Magic and determined he wasn't done coaching.

Yeah if anything he's debating going back to TNT/ESPN for a much easier schedule and still good money.

Why would McHale leave that Houston job? That is looking pretty good right now. I understand the abstract idea of front office role but in reality that a) isn't happening, and b) isn't more enticing than what he has now. It also assumes Ainge is making a hire that writes his own ticket out of town, which makes zero sense.

Actually, I have zero idea what you mean because you keep beating this absurd, fictitious drum that is your own creation. It made no sense a week ago, when you got lambasted for it, and it makes no sense now. But hey, have fun feeling unloved and persecuted.

yeah it made no sense that is why its on the cover page today.

I would never ever want Doc back if he walked away from his contract.

Get me McHale, Mark Jackson or Hollins, someone who can actually coach.

Career coaching records:

Doc: 587-473 (.554)
Hollins: 214-201 (.516)
McHale: 118-124 (.488)
Jackson: 70-78 (.473)

Keep banging that drum.

Alright, so get rid of KG too, cause he hasn't 100 percent said he's coming back and he has a contract. Get me someone who is committed, with loyalty and passion, who hasn't said he has to think if he is going or not before.  ::)

there are three types of lies; lies, white lies, and statistics.

Now please post Doc's winning percentage without the big three....

Of course it's overrated. Because McHale, Jackson, and Hollins have never won it.

Winning an NBA title as a coach is probably also overrated too, I imagine.

do you realize that the 2008 team was bound to win that championship. Look at who they played in the finals. The Laker team without Bynumm and yet it took miraculous plays from Powe and Posey to get us over the top. The Lakers started Radminovich for crying out loud.

You could have rolled out the ball and won that chip. Vucevic was getting major minutes for the Laker team. They had three Euros getting major minutes on that team. Yeah, they were really not going to beat the Celtics with the big three even if you rolled out the ball and called the plays

Lakers had the 3rd best record in the league that year. They went 32-14 without Bynum, and lost 3 games total in the playoffs before reaching the Finals. You're right, they were a complete dog team.

You hate Doc because, in your mind, he's a disloyal, egocentric hack of a coach. About right?
