I've always liked Avery Johnson and thought he got a raw deal in Brooklyn.

Maybe Vinny Del Negro?

Collins

Meh, I think the game has passed Doug Collins by. I could possibly say the same thing about Doc.

someone better undoubtedly.  preferably someone who can coach both offense and defense.  someone who gives a [dang] about regular season games.  someone who knows a timeout can help stall a run by the opposition.  someone who can install a defense scheme that doesn't put our guys in poor rebounding position.

I think Doc just leaves for a season because he doesn't want to coach a tank year. Then he comes back after the 2014 draft

If Doc isnt' coaching, it's a sign that we are going into full-blown tank mode... so it literally doesn't matter who coaches.  One of the assistants like Tyrone Lue or something... or hire ML Carr.

It will take us 5-50 years to become relevant again.  If that ever happens, I'm sure Doc will have an open invitation to come back to Boston... but he'll likely be coaching some other playoff team by then.

Agreed. If doc is gone then so is pierce and kg and at that point it doesn't matter bc were not even dreaming of contending at that point.

I don't think I'd want Collins or Johnson. I'd give either a young assistant coach a shot or try to get Nate McMillan. If I could pull Larry Brown out of his post at SMU I'd be pleased.

I think Avery Johnson has no mind for offense and Collins is just too touchy-feely for today's NBA.

Anyone else kind of miss Jerry Sloan?

LOL...

is all I can say about the Celtics and Doc. Why is he under contract again? Oh so he can pretty much decide if he is going to fleece the club for 7 million or not. What a deal.

Yeah, I also wouldn't mind a seeing a new coach on the Celts. I am wondering if it's time for a new voice.
