  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
So you'd trade our franchise's superstar for a Center who is 6'10 who is coming off an ACL injury,
Our "superstar" is also coming off ACL surgery.  I am not suggesting we trade Rondo for Noel, I don't think Noel has proven enough to be that kind of a lock first pick but I don't doubt that DA is shopping Rondo to see what he could get (and I am OK with that).

Duh! :P I would too if I was Danny.

But there's no point in trading Rondo now. Unless you get something good in return, injuries really affect the market place value of any player.

I don't see any sufficient value in return.

And you don't consider Rondo a superstar?

Put him on the Heat or OKC. I guarantee you he'll be the point guard leading the league in 15 assists per game.

I don't know why everyone is so quick to dismiss Rondo. I'm not even being a homer. But Rondo definitely has the drive, IQ, and determination to really dominate games.

I still remember the game where Rondo was close to swinging at Alston, before the game where we took down the Rockets 22nd winning streak.

It's based on your perspective, quite simply

  • Everyone's excited for the new era.
This is just an observation: I'd imagine this year's #1 pick has considerably less value that those of year's past, if only because there isn't really a consensus #1 pick, nor is there a franchise-changer in the making.

That being said, I'm sure CLE could find a suitor that would offer them a [dang] good deal for the pick, but I'm not surprised they're trying to move it.  As much as I like Noel's potential on the defensive end, I don't really see him as being worth another year of tanking for CLE.  It appears Irving is getting tired of losing, and I don't think CLE can afford to suffer through another year of futility if they hope to keep him.

If they do keep the pick and draft Noel (who probably won't be back until December), I like their future.  However, I think the Cavs front office has to be thinking, "What can we do to win (or at least, be competitive) now?"

The entire Celtic roster.

It put us way under the cap, we'd have a young superstar to watch blossom, and we'd be in great shape to land Wiggins.
Superstar? Really?

We could go 0-82 and we still wouldn't be in "great shape" to land Wiggins.

If Nerlens Noel Is the real deal, I'd probably trade anyone on the current roster for him.  Face it, the pieces we have right now are not that great and certainly not championship contending material.  But we do have picks and some young guys that other teams might value in a trade package.

Well, it'd be cool to have a local guy on the local team.  When is the last time that happened?  When he was coming up as a hotshot prospect, I could only dream that he'd play for the Celtics.

I like him a fair amount but I doubt he's going to be a star.  An elite shotblocker for sure but there are questions.  Like about his scoring.  He didn't even try to score in high school.  His high school development was such a lost opportunity.  How about trying to shoot one measly jumper in high school once in a while?  He should be an above-average rebounder, especially since his motor improved about ten-fold after high school but rebounds can get ripped out of his hands, which is worrisome.

Bradley Bass + filler wouldnt part with Rondo

Lets be honest. you have

1. Proven All Star and arguably best all round PG in the game who knows the teams system inside and out coming off ACL

OR

2. Skinny kid, with great defensive presence, limited offensive game, hasnt proven anything in the league coming off an ACL injruy.......

Choice is pretty clear to me, should be to many others as well

I won't risk a thing. Maybe the guy will be the next Oden.
The franchise will keep rondo no matter what, it's about marketing. He has become the emblem of Boston on TV. They won't allow Danny to move him.

I'll be willing to give Terry Bass and Crawfish for Noel. Not more for the risk.

Rondo should be the first to go

Yeah, ask the Bobcats how stinking for years helps you get draft picks.

Maybe Green and Lee, Im not sold on Noel. He has two MAJOR big man red flags. Injury History (high school growth plate damage on top of current ACL) and Weight. If he weighed in at 225-230 or was skinny but injury free I would say role the dice on this kid being marcus camby 2.0 but the fact that he came in at 206lbs while sitting on the couch injured worries me alot.

Only because they picked poorly, MJ, as great as a player he was, is a mediocre GM.
