You guys do realise that Jeff is averaging 22 points (55% FG, 51% 3PT, 75%FT), 3.5 assists and 6 rebounds per game over 9 games as a starter...right?
Its a fairly modest sample size, but when he's started he's been playing borderline all-star basketball.
How many athletic, long, 6'9", 26 year old guys are there in the league putting up those numbers for $9M a year?
Over the recent stretch without KG, Green has arguably been better then Pierce offensively - similar output but more efficient. He's started 9 games, and in that space he's had a 40 point game, a 30 point game and two or three 27 point games.
If (and 'if is the key word here) he keeps this up, $9m a year is a major bargain.
I think Rondo and Green can co-exist as long as Green earns Rondo's trust, which he should well and truly have done after this stretch. Pierce and Green are actually somewhat similar offensive players - they can catch and shoot effectively, but are better when they have the ball in their hands and creating off the dribble. Rondo has worked well with Pierce for years, so Green may work with him yet.
Terry is basically the same age as Pierce and KG, I would imagine all three will retire together so I wouldmt worry much about Terry's contract. Lee we can trade for cap space hopefully (maybe Bass too) while Sully and AB are both on very affordable deals. As is Crawford.
