Well, the defense decided to take 2 quarters off, and Brady can't throw it in the endzone in 6 attempts? Not particularly surprising outcome.

In fairness, Brady put the ball into his receiver's hands.
All of those were tough catches.

That was a pretty great game overall.  Up until the last play both QB's had played mistake free great football.  The game came down to just a few plays.  The 4th and 6 that Miami converted and the kick out out of bounds were huge.

Yep, enough blame to pass around the Pats for the loss, and no Gronk is huge in red zone situations.

If Amendola holds onto a ball that he gets two hands around, then the Pats win.

That was a much, much easier catch (and a much, much better throw) than the one fans crucified Welker for.

Amendola got hit on the catch. It may have been a better throw by Brady, but not an easier catch.

Based on memory of Welker's drop, there was no one near him.  The fact that Amendola had the added piece of a defender in his face and hit as the ball hit his hands makes this catch harder IMO.

Yeah, but Brady hit Amendola in the hands, without him breaking stride.

Brady threw the ball high-and-outside to Welker, to his opposite shoulder, causing him to contort and reach back across his body.

Brady missed Welker; he couldn't have thrown it much better to Amendola.  DA has to hold on to that ball.

That pick by the Dolphins at the end...you'd have had to be Tonestradamus to be there at exactly that time

Miami was probably spying on the Pats practices. Very fishy. :)

It was a winnable game. A bit more D here. A better kick there. A better job catching by DA and the Pats win it. Fingers crossed for next weekend.

I don't buy this argument that it came down to "just a few plays".   The Pats are a much better team than this and should have beaten the Fish handily. Regardless, does anyone think that they should pull out a 4th quarter miracle in every game now?  The odds are against that no matter how good the team is.

I don't follow the Pats as closely as the Celtics or Red Sox, but it seems to me that this team is really suffering from all the key injuries now --- Wilfork,, Mayo, Gronk --- Can't lose three key players like that (plus many lesser injuries) and be successful.  I just don't see them a SB champs this season.  This loss is no surprise.

Back to the dink-and-dunk.

This Pats team is struggling under the weight of so many injuries.  Didn't even have the rookie WRs to try and stretch the field today.

I disagree with the should have beaten the Fish handily part.  The phins are peaking at the right time, and they played mistake free football in the biggest game of their season so far (well except for that football follies fg attempt).  The pats D had a chance to stop the dolphins when they had a 3 point lead and win the game.  The phins couldn't stop the pats short passing game all game, but NE couldn't stop Tannehill when it mattered most.

The talent disparity between the pats and the phins is shrinking.  Philbin has them playing well.  I don't want to see the phins again in the playoffs.  Much rather play the bengals, ravens or the chiefs.

Pats need to sew up the #2 seed by winning the next two games. I think Miami will get in as the #6 seed, meaning it likely plays Indy in the wild card round? If Miami wins, then I think they head to Denver. Point being, if we see Miami in the playoffs, it is because they have beaten Denver... i'll take my chances at that point.

Normally I don't like the "just a few plays" line. It gets over used in the NFL about as much as "must win game" gets overused in the NBA. But I'd say  the "just a few plays" line is really the story with this team this year. Most of the wins were wins that came down to a few key plays made. And most of the losses were losses that came down to a few key plays not made.

You could tell how much they missed Gronk in the redzone yesterday too, especially on those final plays. They don't have that big, go to target for a touchdown without Gronk.

I'm not overly worried. We are missing 2 receivers who should help a decent amount. Amendola starting to round into form and Vereen already has.

AFC is wide open  and ill worry about the superbowl when we get there.

Its just like any other year with the Pats. They always have a chance ar the superbowl and it will just come with execution. They certainly have enough talent to get there. I'd say when the playoffs start they should have just about as good offensive weapons as laat year. The key will be if Talib can get healthy enough to be the difference maker he wasn't last year.

Even if he isn't with Brady at QB and our offensive weapons, although they are flawed really will never be counted out until they're booted out
