Well, what's a "max" contract for a player of Wall's tenure?  $12m or something in that ballpark?

It'd still be over-paying, but not by a whole lot.  Not all max contracts are the same.

Exactly. The term "max contract" is thrown around a lot as an albatross lately, but not every max contract is the same. 12 million a year is not bad for Wall.

I agree, but is that actually the figure?

Currently, the max contract for a player of 0-6 years tenure is $13,668,750 or 25% of the salary cap.  A player must complete the first four years of his rookie contract to be eligible, however.  Wall is currently in his 3rd season.

Wall won't even be eligible to recieve a new contract until the summer of 2014, although I'm not 100% certain on whether or not a new contract can be negotiated earlier.

Thanks for the info, TP.
