Do you watch celtics basketball. there is more to green than the box score. he is one of the most intelligent guys on our team.
Actually Green is one of those guys who is less than his box score indicates.

THats stupid how can someone be less than the box score genius?
Someone who doesn't make an impact on any game is less than his numbers.  Someone who doesn't play good defense, doesn't make any smart plays, doesn't really compete.  There is nothing positive that Green does that isn't in the box score.  And he's not hustling for loose balls, setting great picks, boxing people out, etc,  Again, everything he does shows up in the box score.

I like Jeff green. He hasn't played fine or well or anything positive said in this thread...lets get real. The last time he played really well was preseason.

Agree 100 percent. Chris Wilcox also had heart surgery, yet Chris Wilcox is playing his rear end off and showing some passion. Jeff Green appears to be a great guy. Jeff Green as a basketball player has done nothing for me to this point. He has had two decent games out of 12. Most times he gets on the court and stands around, and often when he has the ball he almost gets in a panic looking for someone to pass it to.

If I had a job and wasn't very good at it over a 5 year period and still had people making excuses and justifying why I'm not very good and thinking I should be much better, I would be a lucky man.

Don't diss JG just because your life sucks. He is trying hard and has the potential to be a top 20 player in the leage. Jeff is one of the smartest players in the league and has just come back from heart surgery he has all the tools to be an all star in the nba. All of these "fans" need to support Jeff in his comeback or just stop posting. Him and rondo are the future of the celtics.

Top 20 player in the league?  ::)

Not so absurd to think, hes one of those players who has some of the right pieces in place like athleticism and skill and size but some less concrete things about him like his confidence and endurance have kept him from coming near that good of a player.

To be more realistic though since hes already coming into his prime, I'd say he could have the ceiling potential to be a top 50 if he improves his confidence and stamina.

Jeff Green DOES have the physical tools to be a top 20ish player.  I won't deny that.

Unfortunately, he does NOT have the mental make-up.  He is just far too passive.  He has been this way since his Georgetown days.  I fail to see this changing.

Green is what he is, a physically talented, underachiever.  Relying on these "types" of players is the road to mediocrity.

Never top 20 and never top 50. The guy seems to have the engine of someone 5 feet tall. Most passive player I have ever seen.

^^  that's insulting to short people ;)

IF green had Nate Rob's motor, he'd be one heckuva player.

being passive/aggressive and having an engine are 2 very different things

Having a "fast engine", or "high motor" are just new phrases for being aggressive.  There are also multiple ways a player cann be aggressive.  Going strong to the hoop, attacking the glass, on-ball defensive pressure, diving for loose balls and the like a the ways I primarily think of.

Green, at best, shows "flashes" of these.  He is b no means an aggressive player.

Ugh, I've enough excuses with this guy.  He is what he is.  Passive underachiever.

That's true.
He's really playing passively and looks lost at times, but it has got nothing to do with having a good motor.
I don't think he lacks motor. It's not that he lacks physical energy to be aggressive out there.
Instead, it's his mentality that lets him down and it won't be easy to lit up a fire inside his heart.

Using the "He had surgery" card is a load of crap.  Green is already fully recovered, stop pretending he is not, he would not be on the court if he wasn't.

Jeff Green is what I thought he was!  I refuse to let him off the hook though.  I just seriously hope his contract has some sort of non-guarantee clause, or we can trade his sorry butt (although at this point his value is very low).

Seriously? He has been out of competitive basketball for a year and a half, and you don't think that it affects his play?
His body was more or less shut down for two months before he could start rebuilding it. He couldn't practice with the team until this season's training camp. I actually expected him to look more rusty, than he did in preseason.

He was the same before he was out of competetive basketball for a year and a half, maybe worse...sorry

I WOULD LIKE TO SEE YOU GUYS HVE SURGERY AND PLAY WITH HALF THE HEART GREEN DOES. DID YOU SEE HIS DUNK ON BIG AL? DONT TELL ME JG DOESNT PLAY WITH HEART. THE CELTICS NEED TO RUN MORE PLAYS AND MAKE THE GAME EASIER FOR HIM.

Chris Wilcox looks pretty good! Who cares about Jeff greens 1 dunk...sorry but its the most overrated play in basketball
