You know what happens when you get heart surgery? Your chest bone is broken down the middle and then cracked open. Its incredible that Jeff and Wilcox are already back on the court and I, for one, am going to be as patient as open heart surgery dictates.

I am one of the biggest supporters of Green and most people complain that he is not consistent. If he was able to repeat performances like that day he dunked, then it would really help us.

I, for one, am not hating on Green. I actually like him as a player but as a starter more than a bench player. he needs to let the game come to him and that makes present as being laid back.

The Cs need guys that can impact a game more immediately. There really is no time to let the game develop for Green and as a result the Cs are losing ground while Green is trying to find a groove.

The problem is also that we have THREE guys now all trying to find a groove (Green, Terry, and Lee) and that is disastrous.

It would be nice to have a guy like Pietrus who knows exactly how to come in a affect a game...I think it would actually benefit Green and Lee.

Greens play is only a fraction of the overall probelm.

If the Team had a "GOOD" center such as Gortat /SPlitter/ just a decent average 7ft offensive and defensive that could play big minutes EVRY GAME  , then Green wouldn't have so much pressure to play great.

I think the HATE is now comming from the fact he COST SO MUCH for what is producing.  The Money would have been wiser spend on a "BIG" Center. Green at HALF his salary is all he is worth as a backup for Pierce.

Doc game of trying to beat elite teams (HEAT ,SPURS < LA) an't gonna happen with smallsih line up.    The Celtics can only beat the worst teams... not all that sure the Celtics can beat the Bobcats now frankly., it would be a close game if the Celtics won.

I don't HATE Jeff Green , I like the guy , but the team would be better off dumping him and his huge salary for a BIG man like Gortat.

Green would probally do good on the Lakers where he doesn't have to be the MAN.

Maybe we should trade Green to LA for Gasol. ???

Jeff Green needs to be starting. I agree with the poster before that said Green isn't a firestarter player, he let's the game come to him. That's why I think he should start at this point. Pierce has the confidence and game that doesn't need to get revved up. Green would be a solid starter while Pierce would be the 6th man of the year.

Add to that resume Paul. You'll still be an All-star.

I agree that Green should start, but not in place of Pierce, but alongside him at the 2/3.

Green has the athleticism to guard most 2s and Pierce can guard the 3 as he usually does. On offense, whoever has the smaller defender can post them up and create mismatches for the opposition and make them react to us as opposed to us reacting to them.

When PP needs to be subbed out, Green can slide over to the 3 and in comes Jet/Lee.

He's playing fine.  He just needs a bigger role.

Agree.
He needs to play about 35 mpg. He is not getting enough run. The best solution is to bench Lee and have Pierce split time between SG and SF until Bradley is healthy.

I def agree he needs more minutes. I thoght he would be playing 30 a night and that hasnt consistently happened. Part of the problem is our depth. A lot of folks said at the beginning of the season that maybe danny got Lee and Bass back as possible trade bait. I diddnt buy it at first but i think thats a possibility now. Jeff needs more minutes but still needs to be more aggressive. As i said before though, i will be totally patient with him.

I approve of this thread.  ;D

One small thing, I want to add: Green doesn't take money we could have spent on anyone else (except Krstic, whose Bird rights we still own, but he signed a contract with CSKA Moscow without opt-outs). When we finally signed Green, we were already over the cap. He was the final guy we signed (until Milicic). We are only able to get an expensive big, if he gets waived or we trade for him. And Green doesn't prevent us from either.

Green's money is really a non issue when you consider we will be nowhere near under the cap in the next 3 years anyway. So what's the $3 extra million he's getting per year really mean? Nothing.

The Celtics maintain flexability and a good size contract to potentially trade if it doesn't work out. Green is young enough and has done enough in the league already to have value of the trade market if that's where this eventually goes.

He needs to be more aggressive when on the court.   When he is aggressive and attacks the hoop, he does well.

I like Jeff green. He hasn't played fine or well or anything positive said in this thread...lets get real. The last time he played really well was preseason.
