Using the "He had surgery" card is a load of crap.  Green is already fully recovered, stop pretending he is not, he would not be on the court if he wasn't.

Jeff Green is what I thought he was!  I refuse to let him off the hook though.  I just seriously hope his contract has some sort of non-guarantee clause, or we can trade his sorry butt (although at this point his value is very low).

Seriously? He has been out of competitive basketball for a year and a half, and you don't think that it affects his play?
His body was more or less shut down for two months before he could start rebuilding it. He couldn't practice with the team until this season's training camp. I actually expected him to look more rusty, than he did in preseason.

I've been disappointed. He looked much more assertive in the preseason and it had me thinking he could lead the 2nd unit.

I've realized that Green has to be catered to, he's not a facilitator or a guy who is great at 1-on-1 (offense or defense). And he's not an instinctive garbage guy like Sully, who will find ways to be useful when nothing is designed for him. He'll just give you flashes of brilliance and headaches when you realize that his great play was an aberration, and probably not his potential.

I'd like to see him get more minutes with Rondo where he's the featured scorer (with PP, KG, and possibly Jet on the bench). The biggest thing is that he doesn't look comfortable. It looks like he's either forcing things or out of the play entirely. We'll see where he goes, but he's real far from being one of the better 6th men (top 5-10) in the league which is where I had him pegged going into the season.

Edit: I also feel like Green is in a tough spot, similar to Ray when he joined the team. He has tons of pressure on him to perform, but when he's in with the starters he's the 4th-5th option and when he's in with the bench he's expected to dominate. All of that without a lot of set plays run for him.
"Suit up every day."

Does no one realize the potential impact green has on the celtics. he deserves more from the fans than the continual hatred directed towards him. just wait he will proof to be a steal at 9 million a year.

I always had bad things to say about Jeff Green
and did not want the Celtics to fall into the trap
of resigning him.
He's a very soft player with mediocre talent.

Do you watch celtics basketball. there is more to green than the box score. he is one of the most intelligent guys on our team.

Do YOU watch basketball? In what backwards universe did Green suddenly become an intelligent basketball player? I know your love for Green may have blinded you to the truth but he brings NOTHING to this team and at 9 million dollars a year there are much better options than a just another body which is what Green is.

You know what happens when you get heart surgery? Your chest bone is broken down the middle and then cracked open. Its incredible that Jeff and Wilcox are already back on the court and I, for one, am going to be as patient as open heart surgery dictates.
What does heart surgery from over a year ago have to do with anything?

It's one thing if you had patience while waiting for Green to return to his previous form.  However this is exactly what he was like before.  You need patience for him to figure the game out already.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I'm really tired of talking about potential with this guy. I think he is Marvin Williams 2.0.

You have to put some of the blame on Doc Rivers though. He is using Green wrong....Green isnt a guy like Rondo/Pierce who is going to create shots/scoring for himself.

he needs to get in a rhythm and have plays called for him. whenever the team has made an effort to get him involved/get him HIS shot he has had pretty solid games for us.

whenever Doc has him stand in a corner stretching the floor, and sometimes screaming for the ball so he can force an opportunity he has played poorly.

its the coach's job to put his players in the best position to succeed..and I dont think Doc has done that yet with Green, utilizing his strengths..IE slashing towards the basket

Green is being used as the scapegoat so much right now its not even funny. It is too early in his return to basketball to expect much more out of him, but its absurd to say he has done anything other than helped us. You cant blame our failures thus far on him.  If you people cant accept that then Celtics probably arent your team. I hear brooklyn and miami are accepting band wagon fans.
